I've been taking Ativan 1mg prescribed by my psychiatrist to help me sleep at night due to the anxiety withdrawals from quitting PMO....I've been only indicated to take Ativan 1mg for 3 days only at bed time and that's it, does that affect my recovery and brain healing from the PMO addiction?

I used to take them. they help in the short term, work more like a band aid than a cure. in long term they arent sustainable source of calmness. id say they are to be used in uncontrollable anxieties, insomnia or depression.

I also take Benzos, but in long term the effect decreases approximately after 3-4 weeks..

Just research the long-term side effects of taking this type of drug and you'll have your answer. I wouldn't mess with benzos unless I was medically in the need of it.

Brother, I would really recommend getting off Benzo's. They are highly addictive, and are not meant to be taken for longer than 21 days. Even then, it should only be given for something serious. Doctors give them out like sweets nowadays. I've had four different periods where I took them, and even when I asked the doctor about the addictive properties, he was oblivious and just said: "give it a chance." I had horrendous side effects, getting off them was a withdrawal nightmare, and I became physiologically dependent. There are some really good documentaries out there, Dr. Peter Breggin is a good place to start. There are many adverse long term effects from taking these medications. I would advise that you wean yourself off them slowly. Don't stop cold turkey, you can die. Essentially the choice is yours, but having been an addict of all types and a med head, I suggest that we learn how to deal with life without crutches or magic pills for any ill. Good luck, and if you need any more help, send me a message.
