If we're sharing almost-caught stories. I once heard my mom coming, so I did the obvious thing and tried to close the browser. Well apparently the old computer's little brain was already maxed out, so it completely froze up. Yeahhh...

 

I love these posts. It's hard to relapse when you are laughing this hard. The ability to laugh at ourselves really helps beating this addiction.

 

Sounds like the best course of action to me.

 

@BBX555. Wow, I can't imagine that happening to me man. Ironically something similar, although much less embarrassing, happened yesterday that involved the same thing. But think of it like this bro, they say bad things happen for a reason. Because of this experience, you're much more motivated to stop PMO and twice as likely to be more careful. Since they've discovered your problem, they might step in to help, but I'm sure you need to go to them first. Just a thought. Another thing, ask yourself this: a week from now, would it matter? Somewhat yes. In a month? Maybe. How about a year or more? Most likely not unless they mention it again. I'm sure they won't because they know your embarrassment and how bad you felt.

Finally, there's one thing I've learned about irrational thinking. Sometimes our thought patterns overrides our conscious minds preventing us from thinking clearly. Although in our heads, millions of thoughts are going on, so we produce physical symptoms like anxiety or headaches. On the outside world, things are mostly not as bad as it seems. Studies show that a great majority of our thinking is irrational which causes us to have symptoms of panic or anything else that's stressful. It's a proven fact. A famous philosopher, Albert Ellis, was deathly afraid of being rejected by woman that he felt ill just by thinking about it. He did an experiment and forced himself to talk to 130 women for a minute to record his data. It turned out that he was able to a 100 of them and proved himself wrong. It wasn't as bad. So it's the same in your case except it's different. You're freaking out inside, but still, your situation isn't as bad as you think it is. I apply this type to thinking all the time and even though it's hard, it does work.

 

Okay, at first I was trying to stay serious, because this is a problem.
But after reading all these stories... I couldn't help but start laughing a bit
And how could it hurt? I think it'll only help us get the motivation back to beat this addiction.
We are a community, we help each other, and laugh with each other.

I understand your pain. I was caught once and I was so embarrassed. I had to admit it to my parents too. Don't sweat it though, you'll be laughing about it sooner or later!

Side note: After getting caught the first time I wasn't getting caught again. Like @AlltheRageBackHome I became a ninja, except I was the sensei. I gained super hearing and the ability to move without making noise while cleaning up. We all put on our A game on back then

Dudes .... Well, if you are interested, i have some stories for you too, they are not mine, but are funny as hell ...
Once i was playing basketball and me and the other guys went away from the playground, one of the dues brought up a topic about the strangest place for fapping, and he shared a story about him, how he was on a private math lesson, and the teacher, who was a male was sitting next to him, and explained the tasks to him, and then an urge hit him, and he jerked it there .... This dude is insane ..
Another story: A friend of him, has jerked on the back seat of the car, with his mother driving infront of him, and his little sister on the passenger seat in front ...
So now you realize how strong the urges are, and how they are capable of controlling people and make them do very stupid things ...

 

What happened to you @BBX555 reminds me of the first chapter of "Breaking the Cycle", one of the best books I have ever read on sexually compulsive behavior, including porn addiction. If you get a chance read it. The first story is similar to what happened to you and the guy lost everything. The difference was that he had forgotten to lock the door to his office in the basement and his little daugther caught him watching porn with his pants down and masturbating... I think it is good you have shared this because it could have been any of us. I know it could have been me. And I also know I could lose my family because of this. In my case I confessed my addiction to my wife and she has supported my recovery. You may want to find an opportunity to discuss this with her when you are ready. Just a thought and thanks very much for your honesty.

 

Total exposure in front of the family is truly a nightmare. If I were you, I would keep this awful feeling in the front of your mind and use it as motivation to quit PMO.

At least 4-5 times I have been busted by family members and none of them felt good. Most of the time it was when one of my high school age kids walked into the room as I had porn on the screen. Quickly I would jump off the site, but they always knew what was going on. I think the worst time (for my wife) was when my wife was actually traumatized when she looked up something in the laptops search-history and saw the massive amount of porn sites that I had visited that day while I was supposedly working at home. Usually I was careful to delete the history, but we all make mistakes. My porn binge had lasted for hours and I had searched some very deprived sites as I keep looking for darker material to satisfy my insatiable addiction. Sadly, this was a typical day for me before I found this site. My wife brought it up a few times, letting me know how shocked she was by what she saw and I laughed it off. It's easier for me to act like it wasn't a big deal, then to confess that I was hopelessly addicted to porn.

While I haven't had a clean streak long enough to feel a reboot, the days of endless porn viewing are behind me. I've slipped many a time, but at least there are breaks between the fails.

Stay strong, we all screw up, but we can all improve and get better.

Obviously at the time it must have been devastated. And very brave of you to watch porn on a screen that gets used by other people!

Just been reminded of the time my Dad busted me M'ing in front of the computer one time. Nothing ever got said about it, and the embarrassment went away after about a day! - I'd rather my Dad catch me than my Mum!

I agree with what @nomo said about remembering this feeling, but at the same time, like the others have said, you also have to move past it. What works for me is keeping it in the back of my mind and use it as a motivator. I merely add this in case it helps someone else, as it seems like you have done a great job so far of moving past in on your own.

I can't even imagine the embarrassment you must've felt. Dinner with the family days after your experience would've been awkward. I'm glad your using it as motivation to press forward for a life free of PMO.

Sharing your experience has brought humor to an otherwise serious issue. You ain't along in your experiences brother. I have been caught many times back in high school by family with BDSM porn pics frozen on the family computer. I didn't know how to jerk off at the time so all I did was get high off porn pics. I remembered the serious undertone to my relative's voice as she calmly told me to shut off the computer.
