After cleaning myself up today i was struck with a question i may have asked myself but today it just seemed like a distant goal that i don't know when I'll reach. I asked myself when I'll overcome porn and masturbating? I have tried many different things and I still end up failing. I won't give up trying but this is extremely fustrating.

  2. I can totally relate to this. I've been addicted to porn and PMO for more then 20 years. I've tired to stop many times over the years and would have good streaks but always fell back into it.

I'm currently 20 days PMO free and feel like this time it's going to stick. Why? I started keeping a journal and would write how i was feeling right before watching porn and afterwards. Much to my surprise my biggest trigger to watching porn was boredom. I was bored, I would watch porn to pass the time. Now that I know this information, I'm able to address the issue and deal with it. If i find myself getting bored, I do something to distract myself for a little while like clean the house, read a book, listen to music and play an air guitar. Anything to occupy my mind for 15 minutes or so and then I don't watch porn. I would suggest keeping a journal and that may help identify things for you and be able to address them so you can live a porn free life.

  3. I actually do this similar habit too, and it really works.

  4. First of all, porn and masturbation aren’t the same thing. Second of all, most men who are addicted to porn can’t tell the difference between sexual desire and the desire for porn. Or rather, we have difficulty expressing our sexuality properly because it’s expression is wrapped up in the PMO cycle. You aren’t abandoning your sexuality, that’s impossible. You are changing the way you express your sexual desires. What is your life like? Are you living the life you want? If the answer is no, or I don’t think I can, or sort of, then that’s where you need to place your energy. Don’t focus on “not looking at porn”. That just doesn’t work. Focus on building the life you want. When porn gets in the way of something you legitimately want to do more of or get better at, it’s a lot easier to leave behind.

Thank you , i'll try this. I've also been addicted over 20 years as well.

This is definitely a different perspective, I'd like to try this and see if it makes a change.

I've read about journaling a lot on this forum but it never made sense. However being written in your language made it make sense. My problem with porn sessions is that feeling of loneliness get induced on me, it leads me to chat sites then dating sites then hookup sites and finally porn. I should give journaing a try

You will quit don't worry. If you worry that you will never quit then you will always fail. Journaling definitely helps keep you on track and in a routine but I found that not isolating myself also helped (staying inside all day alone in my room) going outside helped a ton even for a walk as it gave me something to do instead of get bored and PMO.

Porn addiction is similar to drug or alcohol addiction. It is a journey. I know people who quit alcohol 20 years ago and never looked back! You can download a journaling app from the App Store it’s what I use !

That's a question only you can answer. You're the one who has to quit. Nobody is going to do it for you
