  2. First congratulations!!! To have cut out sugar and coffee really was an achievement. It’s simply not possible that these give you more energy in the long run. So continue your healthy life style and just except some minor uncontentments. Maybe your body and mind is still adapting, maybe look for other sources that suck your energy: pmo, emotional issues, sleep routine..

    Day 7

Even though I’ve had longer streaks, this is by far the best. I’m not running away anymore but just sitting here and accepting how much this is going to suck for a short time before I could be free and happy without porn in my life.

    just a thought about nutrition.
Studies had shown that willpower is limited and that it can get depleted and then you become “weaker”. The books “the force of habit” and “atomic habits” really explained it great. In one of the studies they put people alone in a room with a plate of cookies and were told to not eat the cookies and afterwards they were told to do hard puzzles. The control group that had not spend their willpower on not eating the cookies had done much better. The conclusion was that we can waste or willpower and after that your chance of doing hard and long task is much lower.

In our situation, a lot of nofap is about changing our entire life so we wont only use willpower, but a lot of the dealing with urges is by it’s nature just willpower. And “wasting” our finite willpower on removing sugar, would take away from the ability to reject porn. I know that in the long run removing sugar and caffeine, exercising more, starting to meditate and all of the other great habits that are we try to incorporate would do so much good. but most people can’t do it all at the same time. We must have compassion to our situation and understand that we can’t change everything in a day.

For me. the fight against porn must be the number 1 objective. And after I would have maybe 3-6 month clean I would start to add more things. I am trying to cut back on sugar and all of the other good things. But I’m not going to let the fight against some other craving to hurt me in this fight.

But again, that is only my thought about this subject.

i think that can happen - a minor bump in motivation or a less productive day - sometimes we need to just rest and have fun. as long as that doesn´t become a pattern, i don´t think it´s a problem ;)

I think it's fear to take the leap of faith.:)..when you don't see the path in front of you but the destination...and to be honest the destination is more like a mirage in the desert and the words in the mind...

lot´s of them. take note ;)

energy boosters: movement (physical exercise), meditation, sun, nature, water, power breathing (wim hof), cold showers, music, reading, focus on one´s life - goals and hobbies, sports, friends, proper sleep, eat in moderation, dress well, take care of your body, house, etc.

energy depleters: porn, porn subs, masturbation, junk food, sugar, alcohol, white bread, bad sleep, overeating, television, videogames, focus on other people´s life, gossips, social media, negative emotions, laziness (yes, doing nothing makes you even more tired :D), snooze button on the alarm clock, don´t care about yourself or your environment.

you can easily cultivate the "boosters" with proper discipline and planning. to avoid all the "depleters" is much harder, and sometimes can be counterintuitive. the idea is to leave the depleters for last (television, videogames, etc), after a day with multiple boosters ;)

    Checking in brave Warriors!!! :)

Lot´s of slips today among the Fellowship. Should we consider this a "weekend slip pattern"?:confused::confused:

i myself was tempted last night, i was watching a movie that i had choosen myself, a movie that may contain triggers, but i choose it anyway. i really wanted to see the movie, but i was doubting if a small part of me was fishing. so when the first triggers entered (ladies in small clothing) my eyes were fixed on the screen. then i realize i was fishing. 95% of me was wanting to see the movie, and 5% of me was fishing, hoping to stumble across "something". so when the movie was over, i was with urges and thinking "man, this is gonna be a hell night".

so i sit in meditation for a while, the urges reduced, and got into bed, and fall asleep ;);):):). victory!!

an important thing, that i think most people here already know, but for the newbies this is important: it´s crucial to not feed lust in the mind. it´s the thoughts that continue the urges after the trigger is gone. so watch your mind, don´t indulge in sexual thoughts, if they appear let them pass on, or else they will fuel the urges and make the situation even more difficult. remember: the reboot must also happen in a mental level.

Checking out brave Warriors!! :) Have a great Sunday with sun and water :emoji_sunny::emoji_droplet: ;)

Here´s another important excerpt from "your brain on porn", page 64.

"Research reveals that erections require adequate dopamine in the reward circuit[147] and the
male sexual centres of the brain.[148] Not long ago, Italian researchers scanned the brains of guys
with ‘psychogenic ED’ (as opposed to ‘organic ED’, which arises from issues below the belt). Their
scans revealed atrophy of the grey matter in the brain's reward centre (nucleus accumbens) and the
sexual centres of the hypothalamus.[149] Loss of grey matter equates with loss of nerve cell branches
and connections with other nerve cells. Here, this translates into reduced dopamine signalling
    (reduced arousal).

It's like your 8-cylinder engine is now sputtering along on only 3 cylinders.

The study is evidence that psychogenic ED is not always caused by an individual's state of mind
at a particular moment. It can be a consequence of changes to the reward circuitry that result in
persistently reduced dopamine signalling. This could help explain porn-induced sexual dysfunctions,
such as erectile dysfunction, delayed ejaculation and inability to climax at all during intercourse –
and why such symptoms generally require weeks or months to reverse."
