After PMO binges I feel like I'm wearing a hat when I'm not

Has anybody else experienced this? I often edge to porn for 12 hours. For several hours after I stop PMOIng it feels like I have a hat on my head even though I don't.

LOL, I'm not referring to the dunce cap in my avatar image although that is probably the hat I should be wearing after a 12 hour PMO binge.

Seriously it feels like I'm wearing a hat. Maybe it is swollen sinuses due to the chemicals that cause dilation of the penis blood vessels?

My addiction has lasted over 30 years and I've never felt that sensation you describe. I've never been able to edge for longer than a few minutes. I hope someone here can tell you what's up with these sensations.

Thanks for the response. It must be a mild sinus pressure from dilated blood vessels due to the chemicals that cause the same effect in the penis. I think some people get blood shot eyes from PMOing for long periods. I suspect the cause is similar. (Interestingly, I don't get blood shot eyes as much as in the past, but I do get this weird feeling of wearing a hat.)

Haven't experienced this but I do get these "hot flashes" for the next few days, like I'll just randomly start burning up, especially at night.

I know exactly what you mean. The first time I experienced it, I thought of it as feeling more like a headband. It only happens when you really fry your brain with an extreme PMO session or multiple PMO sessions in one day. Do you notice that those extreme PMO sessions also have a big impact on your cognitive ability? When I get that feeling of pressure around my head, I also get this dazed feeling like I'm kind of stoned and my personality is blunted. It's a creepy feeling that I never want to experience again.

Yep, that's exactly what it feels like - a headband. It's a band mostly on the forehead and sides of the head but not so much on the back of the head. Very much like wearing a headband.

And I definitely feel brain dead. My eyes seem to be barely open like I'm really sleepy. I can't focus on even simple tasks and mostly wander around in a daze trying to remember what I am doing. "Oh yeah, I was going to brush my teeth." Then I wander into the bathroom and stare at the mirror trying to remember why I came to the bathroom.

That feeling lasted 7 hours yesterday after approximately 7 hours of edging to porn. So a total of 14 hours lost yesterday - the whole day. I'm 54 years old, so I need to stop frying my brain and body like that.

EDIT: Actually as I think about how my eyes felt yesterday it is more like they are sensitive to light, so I tend to look downwards away from lights on the ceiling and my eyelids tend to be partially closed. That ties-in with acetycholine, because too little acetycholine causes dilation of the pupils and it also cognitive symptoms similar to Alzheimer's. I have chronic depression/anxiety that seems to be caused by acetylcholine irregularities. Probably a lifetime of PMO addiction has made it worse.

That is interesting. I haven't experience hot flashes yet.

One of the neurotransmitters that seems to be associated with sexual arousal for me is acetylcholine. That chemical is involved with perspiration and salivation among other things. Maybe that chemical is bouncing around too high and too low for several days after a PMO binge?

I used to get the sensitivity to light too, along with other eye symptoms. I'm on my 17th month of NoFap, and while I've had a few minor relapses here and there, the long streaks I've managed to accomplish in that time have helped tremendously in improving the myriad of physical and psychological symptoms that I used to suffer; in fact, I'd say that they are all but gone. I haven't felt this healthy in years! The only thing that I struggle with now is the psychological desire to indulge in PMO, but even that has lessened considerably since starting NoFap. A lot of rebooters on here say that the desires and cravings are the last remnants of the addiction that linger for a while before you are fully healed, especially if you've been addicted for a long time and/or since a young age. I got addicted between the ages of 12 and 14, and I'm 33 now, so I figure that I've still got a little ways to go before I'm completely free of the desires and cravings.

No, I don’t think that I have ever experienced such an issue. I had a similar situation but only with my headphones. I kept on wearing them during the day, and when I went out, I still felt like I was wearing them. Talking about hats, last week I found a really cool website where you can purchase custom 7 panel hats. Mine should arrive tomorrow, and I’m really excited about it. My brother's hat has already arrived, and it is incredible. The quality of this hat is just something else.

Thanks, it is good to know I'm not the only one who experiences this weird thing. :)

Must be some neurotransmitter I suppose? Or maybe it is due to the blood vessels dilating in response to the chemicals that keep the penis's blood vessels dilated? Just guessing.

More like fry our brain with lots of dopamine explosion

Because last friday i was being a shut neet for straight 3 days, gaming, porn all day in my room sleep less that 5 hours after i sober my head is so dizzy like something in ma head but wount get off, my eyes is hurt too, until today

I think and agreed that this is because we overused our brain in destructive manner by bombing it with dopamine explosion

I've experienced something similar. Like a tightness in my brain? Is that it?

  14. Firstly, I thought I was the only one that would edge that long. But yes, I know what you are talking about also. Reading other comments, a headband type feeling really clicks with me. Brainfog and regret is what I get. I'll walk around high and hungover for awhile. It sucks. I just want to quit PMO so I can improve my life and finances.

Yeah, I agree with you. I don't know which chemical is responsible. You mentioned dopamine, but I have wondered if it is the nitric oxide which is needed to keep the penis erect. I suppose it is probably more than one chemical.

For me it isn't so much tightness in the brain but tightness around the scalp. I have a lot of brain fog though.

Another thing that always happens to me is my sense of smell increases after edging. I can smell the chlorine in the water when I shower for example. I have that problem even when I don't edge, but it is far worse when I edge. Normally I don't smell the chlorine in my water - only after an marathon edging session.

Yes, I get the tightness around the brain/scalp area. Lots of brain fog here as well.

It definitely sucks to have this PMO addiction. I know it would be worse to be addicted to heroine, but it is still rotten to have any addiction. They take over your life. I can see what it has done to me just over the past 5 years. I am 55 and have been a PMO addict since I was 17. I guess I have learned how to refine the addiction to make it even more consuming. I would have expected to be less interested in porn at the age of 55 than at the age of 17, but it hasn't happened. I am less horny, but I am more consumed by it. For example, learning to edge was definitely not helpful. But I'm not giving up hope.

Hope you can break your addiction.

Also, I would like to think that there is a purpose to everything including being a PMO addict.

  19. Yeah man. It sucks for sure. I’m 22. Been addicted to edging to porn for about 3 years now. Not sure what happened exactly but we can overcome it. You are 55, you still got a while on your life. I need to quit because I keep spending all my money on it. I been trying to save for my first car, but that’s not happening any time soon. Best of luck man.

You're probably causing physical changes to your brain. Edging is even worse for your brain than PMO. At that length of time you're probably feeling some sort of sensory overload in your dopamine receptors. I'd urge you to watch this clinical psychologist discuss the effects of edging and to quit as soon as possible. Personally, I would be seeking professional help or a treatment center if it was impacting my life to this extent.
