Is this forum dying ?

I've definitely noticed that too. I would assume they're going to reddit or just giving up? Who knows. Hopefully the owners start doing more to make this platform more populated.

 

Been here since 2014. The site always comes back. Users always come and go. This question pops up regularly yet the forum is still here

 

That's good to hear! I wonder if it's seasonal? More people wanting to be outside or away from their computers when the weather first gets warm?

Considering I started researching NoFap way back in 2011 (can't remember the name of the site - didn't attempt it back then though), there's been at least 11 years since then, packed full of testimonies, and anecdotal stories, as well as research into this.

I think most questions have been answered in several different ways during that time, and people don't need to ask anything more, hence the lower post counts. Anything from supplements to spiritual connections with NoFap, you can find it on umpteen number of sites, with tons of stories to go along with them.

The NoFap information market has been saturated IMO. The site isn't dying. It's just people don't need to ask as much as they used to.

 

It get a boost every new NNN

 

Maybe a lot of people have gotten so good at it that they don't need the cite anymore.

 

It doesn't seem to be dying to me. There seems to be less drama which is a good thing imo.

 

Been here for over six years and I wouldn't say it is dying. This forum has phases, as other people already pointed out. I did notice an unsettling increase of bizarre and extreme ideas over the years though, which really makes we wanna leave sometimes. I just hate to see that.

 

I have been here a similar length of time. I feel that you get out of it what you put into it. I feel that the benefits come when you engage with others.

Ah cheers IGY, I really really appreciate that. This forum is far from perfect but it's definitely the most important place on the internet for me and if I can make even 0.5% of a change for the better... At least I'm trying hard so thanks to you, it is nice that it is noticed

I do not know how long it has been in your signature, but I just noticed the scripture citation. It is an amazing passage. I have often wondered if he had a fight with masturbation, after all he was unmarried. We will never know, but it fits our situation.

 

I think it's because people are either winning against their addiction and leaving the forum ( hopefully ), giving up on NoFap and leaving the forum ( I really hope not ) or they are tired of constantly seeing stories of people with various problematic sexual disorders. Honestly it's not good for your mental health to constantly read about people suffering weird and fucked up sexual disorders in here.

 

Haha, this is offtopic indeed but it's been here since a few months now. It's my favourite exce of the Bible, point blank period. It's unbelievably relatable. I wish I could have met Paul. For what it's worth, I do believe that yes, he struggled with a kind of pleasure of the flesh, whatever that was, perhaps only fantasies. A man who wrote this, int his way, cannot imagine it this vividly without having known it himself... But that's a conjecture I would be happy to discuss for another thread

 

Just out of curiosity, what kind of drama and what kinds of extreme ideas? I've been here several times over the past several years and have seen some of them, but again, just curious.

If you and @IGY are interested, I've heard the Confessions of St. Augustine go in-depth into his sex addiction. He is one of the most important figures in Christianity. I have not read it myself, but listened to a Great Course on the Confessions. Pretty interesting stuff.

My personal opinion is that people have become aware of the consequences, which is very important and important. We have a lot of new research on the harmfulness of pornography, masturbation is already a matter where attitudes are more divided. A little more than two years ago, I started to struggle with this and I could rarely find anyone from my environment who advocated the same attitudes towards PMO as I did, maybe it was then, but people were discreet.
