I hadn't PMO'd since November 13 of last year, and was aiming for a whole year fap-free, up until last night. I have very bizarre sleep problems. I'm often in a very deep sleep within five minutes of falling asleep which causes intense dreams/nightmares, heavy teeth grinding, night sweats, and I've sleepwalked at least once. Unfortunately, last night I had an intense sexual dream and, about 15 minutes later I woke up mid-orgasm. Apparently I had started fapping during my dream. I'm pretty upset about this as I had gone almost 150 days without PMO. I do recall seeing a post from another person here who had a similar experience. Any advice on what can be done to prevent this? I have also reset my counter and seeing all the lost progress is very frustrating and upsetting, especially since I will have to wait until 2015 to start my fap-free year over. I feel like I have done something terrible.

Hi MysterMagi, very impressed with your efforts. Most guys don't consider wet dreams and fapping during dream as a relapse because it's not in your control, you're not conscious at the time. You should not feel bad at all. I personally would not count it as a reset.

  3. I agree with what @Tobias said above. Since it wasn't intentional, you shouldn't be counting it and resetting your counter.

Coming back to wet-dreams topic, I am not an expert on this subject but this is what I noticed. Whenever I go 2 weeks or more without fapping, it happens automatically. The body/brain has been conditioned to ejaculate via fapping for a long time. And now that you have stopped this, it is happening subconsciously while you sleep. (occasionally)

But you will always observe that you never reach the 'O' when you wake up, but are just about to or in the 'M' stage (feelings wise). It might happen a couple of times more, until the brain adjusts to the new NoFap thing completely.

This is too triggering for people. I am so sorry. I deleted the post.

These guys are right on. Wet dreams and orgasms in your sleep do not count. What you do during your waking hours is what you can control and what you are responsible for. Your counter is for PMO. You did no P. You did no conscious M. You did no conscious O. Put your counter back to where it should be and carry on. You are a hero on this site. Your body is taking control while you are sleeping and that is normal and healthy. Nothing to have any negative feelings over. Your body is healing. Your mind is healing. Celebrate the healing. Throw a party. Definitely put your counter back to where it belongs. You rock.

Please don't make this huge mistake. Wet dream has absolutely nothing!!! and I repeat nothing! to do with relapsing. you need to understand that wet dream is a subconscious process or even natural process that takes place in the body and You have no control over it. If you had relapsed while being awake then it might be a reason for you to worry and maybe reset the progress you made , but it happened while you were sleeping! so you cant blame yourself for that.So continue the track from 150 days. As far as I know you are 151 days sober and not 1 day sober.

Thank you for all the kindness. I feel extremely guilty from this as I had been awake during the orgasm and feel like I could have prevented it, even though I still had all that sleep in me. Usually this would've triggered more lucid faps during the day, but so far I am not interested and feel like I can easily continue on NoFap.

My main goal of last year was to make it from one birthday to the next, but that didn't happen so I started on the 13th of November and decided to hold up throughout this year. Maybe this reset is a good excuse to start a new NoFap quest on hard mode up until my birthday in October as I feel I will have this demon under control if I can make it until then.
