Does it hurt your recovery to look at porn but not masturbate?

I've always enjoyed looking at women and find it difficult not to. I don't have an urge or feel a temptation to M to O while looking. So, is it still harmful to look?

    It is for most people;

    -Possibility to develop PIED.
    -Objectification of women might occur
-Getting your dopamine dose is an addiction in itself.

In a nutshell, watching P can interfere with real sex and how you see women in general.

You got a pretty good streak going...sounds like you are putting yourself at risk a little. IMHO.

@Ikindaknew, you make some good points. I have always look at women with desire and have tried to end the objectification... but, without success. I do worry about the risk factor and my ability to please my wife. We've been good so far. Time to delete the little collection of pics I've started to save. Thanks for your frankness.

I am not sure what your goals are @Boomer49, but NoFap® is a comprehensive community-based porn recovery website. We give our users all the tools they need to quit porn, gain control over compulsive sexual behaviours, and live a higher expression of their sexuality. NoFap® helps people overcome their sexual addictions so they can heal from porn-induced sexual dysfunctions, improve their relationships, and ultimately live more fulfilling lives.

With that in mind, I do not understand what you are here to do. If you are just going to continue looking at artificial sex and pictures of unavailable naked women - that is the very essence of sexual objectification. How is that not damaging to the relationship with your wife? @Ikindaknew stated, "sounds like you are putting yourself at risk a little". Litotes, I assume. However, I notice that you welcome frankness, so I shall state it more plainly.

Our brains are unable to cope with the speed and novelty of porn on the internet. This causes an overstimulation of the reward circuit in the brain, which is awash with dopamine. As long as you continue this behaviour i.e. looking at porn, your addiction will continue. You claim two and a half months without PMO. On the surface, that looks great. But the reality is that your real counter only goes back as far as the last time you watched porn. Whether you masturbate to orgasm while doing so is neither here nor there. Your addiction is thriving because you are constantly feeding it. Please stop this shit!

Best to quit both P and M, but if you have to do one I would quit the P. All the articles are how bad porn is for the brain. The articles most often cited are called "Your brain on porn" not "Your brain on masturbation." Read them and learn how quickly porn can rewire and screw up your brain. Masturbation alone doesn't have the same damaging effect on the brain.

True that. Porn is public enemy no.1 in this equation. But for myself, I also figured that fapping contributed to get my body tired easy, lacking interest in things, feeling BETA.
So both Porn and masturbation are enemies of my well-being now!!!!!

Watching porn is worse than if you were just MOing. I can't find it right now, maybe someone can, but Gary Wilson wrote an article about this that has some great points. I am sure you have watched the great porn experiment, most of that is about the effect of porn on your brain and not just the act of MOing to it.

Agreed, in the last few days I have quit masturbation for now. Masturbation may make me tired and dull the senses, I really have no idea, but since I'm a PMO addict I think cutting out the P and M is probably the best way to get to a reboot. When I first started this I only wanted to stop watching P. Now I'm adding M. As long as I never stop the O, I should be a happy guy.

NOMO, read on semen, what composes it, etc...

Zinc supplements help regenerating semen, too much fap decreases testosterone levels so taking zinc moderately is good, etc..
I'm taking a natural testosterone boost right now, just to try it out...it has vit B6, magnesium, zinc and fenugreek powder in it...also, a non-smell/non-taste garlic supplement for blood flow...

    Also, I take vitamins:

also, reducing alcohol consumption, grab more sleep, work out, etc

  11. Hi,

    Currently at day 35.
Had a wet dream with chaser effect about a week ago. It's been haunting me, the last couple of days I have woken up masturbating, still asleep even.
Today out of curiosity I visited a porn site but felt nothing. NOTHING. It's so boring but I think that is a good sign. I wouldn't count it as relapse if you do not truly intend watching a lot of P and masturbating to it in order to reach orgasm. What is harmful is the will and giving in to the urge, which will eventually lead to relapse.

It is funny that after just a month you think clearer, see porn for what it is (a LIE) and all your desires changes. True love conquers porn on a screen in every way possible.

This goes to show that it gets easier to abstain from P after a while. I would consider a relapse exciting yourself to the point of O with full intention (sin).
If you are able to watch P and see it for what it is and get kind of disgusted by it too you have made a lot of progress and I wouldn't consider a relapse if you just wanted to see what happened, although it's risky I know. Considering it a relapse is dangerous as well because it discourages you. Do not let that happen. The longer you abstain the stronger you get!

    Hang in there!

Best of luck. Remember you are not alone in this. Porn is disgusting and is not an option.

I've been through some serious withdrawal but I have noticed some positive sides too. I know how stupid it would be to relapse and I would advise anyone not to visit porn sites ever again. The problem with P is that it keeps attracting you leading to addiction and depriving you of everything. But the addiction can be overcome and I wouldn't count simply watching a couple of clips without the will to relapse as a relapse or a reboot failure. But it's important not to do this again, although you can't freak out over it because you are stronger than P now!

It's crazy actually to consider they make money off addicted individuals who completely destroy themselves for a lie basically.
