I like a few songs off Matriarch. Never was really a fan of Veil of Maya. Many songs are too melodic for my taste in metal. I don't even really like that song above by The Contortionist lol, just posted it for the lyrics.

I also only enjoy a few songs from Periphery's newest album. Again, many songs are too melodic for my tastes in djent and prog metal.

Alot of this type of prog and djent (not all, take Meshuggah for instance) is self improvement type material in a more spiritual sense if you ask me, as these artists usually radiate a positive energy and are very conscious minded people and it echoes through their music. They are aware of the corruption of a greed fueled world and shine light on the truth of reality and existence.

I think VoM is technically deathcore and djent, but Matriarch isn't sounding very deathcoreish to me hahaha. Djentle deathcore I guess.

In Hearts Wake are what I like to call enlightened metalcore, lol. At least very conscious minded if not enlightened. Their music radiates truth and love.

I used to a hippie of sorts in high school. Was infatuated with exploring other 'realms' or dimensions if you will. Then I grew out of the phase of using drugs to enhance consciousness when I started training martial arts and practicing daily meditation. I came to a point where for myself and the people I trained with, I realized there was no need to take substances to enhance anything as through the practice of meditation one uncovers what is already within.

This song below is a tribute to anyone who finds topics like astral projection interesting, surely we are all at different levels of life experience here. Just know that the deepest purpose of meditation is not only to improve oneself but to ultimately extend the practice to benefitting the entire world and all of existence, and eventually even beyond this world.
