    An excellent point.

Some (wrongly) argue that porn is cathartic, actually teaching men technique how to please their lovers.

If a guy thinks that sex is truly "side to side" thrusting, not only will he disappoint himself, but his partner as well.

Nice to hear a female point of view on this subject.

I too wish the whole porn industry would die. That's another factor I'm going to use in keeping strong. If people don't watch it and it doesn't generate money it would start shrinking. So if I stop I am helping to kill the industry. They are ruining lives for cash. This fact will make me more determined to stay strong.

@Kent Destruction of hollywood san fernando valley, where porn is made would be the first strike. Most of world porn is from USA... If I could I would change the laws right now. So the answer then is about power. However to get it, public morale mindset too. Actually the people to undo this is probably the only way.

Actually, recent analysis has shown us that porn as an profitable industry is actually struggling. Revenues are down significantly.

Porn as a profitable industry peaked in the mid to late 2000s when pay per minute streaming became popular with high speed internet. You no longer had to sneak into some Adult Video Store and you could view porn and jackoff without leaving your home. If you needed a VHS tape or DVD, you could order it discreetly online.

Interesting to note that our credit card information security such as banking and department stores got their initial firewall technology from the porn industry.

But now with the invention of Smartphones/Tablets, video-cams and LTE technology, most of the porn circulated today is free of charge. The most common upload porn sites breach copyright law with impunity by displaying professionally made porn for free. The demand for paid porn is decreasing as the supply of free porn increases. This is similar to what happened to the music industry in the past, but the music industry fought back in Federal and State Courts.

Second, California passed a state law after Measure B passed that requires porn actors in Los Angeles County to wear condoms. The fantasy of the "quick and easy fuck" is severely damaged when the guy has to cover his dick. This new state law has had a negative effect on porn revenues as well.

On the other hand, in the past, a 12 year boy old could not enter an Adult Video Store to access porn. He had to find his Father's hidden stash of videos and magazines. Now all the boy needs is a Smartphone or Tablet to immediately access porn. Also, even though porn revenues are down, it is still a multi-billion dollar industry with very little overhead.

@Veritech Well I know about how it is very easy to get now is true ever since we started getting free streaming P. That is interesting analogy as porn is to the music industry. That is pathetic.. SO easy and sleezy!

The san fernando place does still produce the highest quality pay stuff you can get in the world. I didn't know its free use was this rampant and non profitable as now.. But suspected so when the price for memberships is ridiculously low. They still do make some monies though. A lot of people are more than happy to pay for the sites, as they are vastly superior in quality to the free. Also, much of the free stuff comes from the paid inevitably. If destroyed the well would be running with less water at least.

I think the main thing is that we can see this place as a bastion of legal filth. Which should not exist. And to eliminate this fortress of fornication would send and infuse a powerful message to USA and the world. BUt peoples spirit has to change before they will get rid of P. Which i am afraid is so deeply ingrained.. Its a lot of work.

  6. I think that's a rather one-sided, backwards view you have. I advise you to read accounts of male porn stars who have quit the industry in order to gain a proper understanding of their perspective. Calling women in porn "defenceless" is equally unjust, though your views epitomise those of society at large, unfortunately.

@Chef Boy Don't worry I know... The men lead, n the women follow. Women wouldn't do that stuff if men didn't want them to.. ya feel me? Be a man, don't be a pimp.

Back to the business of porn...

Even the participants are being financially affected - it no longer pays as well. For the female pornstar, she has an extremely low "shelf-life" and the pornstar has to turn to the more extreme to remain relevant.

It's one thing to watch extreme porn than to be a participant. The "lifestyle" of the porn actress is far less "glamorous" than it was in the past. Some pornstars have found themselves in hospitals for serious physical deformities in their genitals and anus - in addition to STDs.

For the male pornstar, many are required to enter the industry through the gay channels. This must be very unappealing for straight men. They have to take their share of guy/guy sex (very painful apparently) before "graduating" to females.

So this industry is starting to take it on the chin.

    Interesting discussion!

A few things that could add to this discussion...

I agree with @theGECK and @Veritech - if you're doing porn moves, you're doing it wrong. The best moves I think are those that would be very boring on camera. I have had to tell hubby when I don't like a particular thing as he has changed some of his moves over the years as he's watched more porn, and they don't feel that great. I hope that guys are not learning through watching porn, it's not the best way.

Hubby and I had a discussion that sort of highlights all if this. We talked about our fantasies and how they play out. He is very much pornified in terms of scenes, moves, actors etc. really just like a porn clip. For me, i play out how things feel, I don't think about the moves or the people, just about the sensation. Really different ways to think about things. Hubby was always getting cranky with me as he wanted to know my fantasies and when he heard them, he couldn't understand it. For him, he was waiting for me to tell him about a place or person etc.

As for the mirrors, for a few years I lived in an old house that used to be a brothel back in the 70's. In my bedroom, I had smokey mirrors on the ceiling, a bar and a bathroom sink... Mirrors are really not great. There are some things that shouldn't be seen!

Thanks for sharing this particular aspect of things with your hubby.

My wife never wanted to share anything about her fantasies...I wonder what's in her head!

I didn't do much porn moves, the wife wrote them all off long time ago. So we go for sensation I guess. And the moves are about what SHE feels its good for sensation. She just started to loosed up a bit.
I guess I should have stopped PMO'ing earlier!

  14. Super interesting discussion here. I've definitely noticed the whole "you can't see everything at the same time" conundrum of real sex vs. porn. As a woman, honestly, some things you just can't see ever, unless you're crazy flexible somehow.

That was definitely a factor for me, I think, in continuing to be addicted to porn even though I have a good sex life with my husband. And I totally concur with @TheWife and @theGECK about the different body angles as well! The stuff that actually feels good probably doesn't look very good at all. lol I've seen a couple sitcoms where people film themselves having sex and then realize it was a terrible idea because it isn't appealing to watch at alllll. It's very sad that so many young people are learning about sex and pleasure from porn, because porn is just a bunch of lies. It's like trying to learn what a relationship looks like by watching romance films. These things are meant for entertainment, not education. Which is why we who realize this need to work harder to help educate the younger generation properly.

  15. I think the filmmakers goals are to show the most, regardless if that actual position produces pleasure or not. Someone mentioned the actors never look into each others eyes and that is true on most, but my weakness are the erotic massage type videos featuring real couples, who show intimacy & romance, instead of a rigorous "banging". These affect me the most because that is what most husbands want from their wives. I've never been turned on by the nasty hardcore, fake screaming, let's see how many weird positions we can get into, but the more "realistic" ones are my weakness and what I'm trying to stamp out. "If you can't eat the pizza, it just pains you to watch someone else enjoying it".

Another point is, I don't think porn will ever disappear, but I do think all the sites should be required to be "pay sites". This would remove all parents fear from their child stumbling or searching for something they should be, and help all of us at the same time.

The reverse cowgirl (female on top, facing away from the man) has got to be one of the worst positions.

Only the porn observer can see the woman. The guy sees nothing.

Who (in real life) chooses a position where there is no eye contact between lovers?

    Not at all.

The female can turn her head during doogie; whereby lovers can still maintain some semblance of eye contact.
