I was at Day 4 NoFap Hard Mode and I feelin better. But tonight I got a wet dream and now I'm feeling down again and I'm scared this will affect my nofap journey and it will causes some negative side effects. Does wet dream considered as a relapse? Does wet dream causes negative side effects? And how long is the time needed to recover?

No, a wet dream isn't a relapse. Negative side effects are having to wash sheets earlier than expected. Recovery happens as soon as you shower upon waking.

Nope, its a sign of reboot.ur body is used to ejaculate that often.it will slow down slowly to minimum and then none at all.according to how much you abstain.its also a good way to get rid of a boner out of control.just think"i leave it to body process" and sleep away.if u get a wet dream,no worries.rebooting is going on.even a relapse is not a "relapse" unless your days gap is increasing each time it happens.its a slow but steady process.tc! God bless!

first of all you cant control that happen unless your going to shove a cork in your dick. Second of all you are still going to have days where you feel like shit, nobody really knows how NoFap is going to effect your brain we all have different backgrounds going into this so I mean a person who has been suffering from depression isn't going to be the same as someone who isn't but just wants to stop PMO, the point I'm trying to make is that your bad day may have been unrelated to cumming.

  5. I would not usually consider a wet dream to be a relapse. Because you are not in control of what your body does, usually. However, if you are lucid dreaming and intentionally decide to have a wet dream by masturbating to porn in a dream or having intentional orgasm (if you are on a Hard Mode) then I would consider it a relapse. Because in lucid dream you have full control, so it's also your full responsibility. But most of the time it's not the case cos we are not lucid. So don't worry about it.

I have seen a lot of these posts. I actually dealt with a few spontaneous emissions while awake. I was not even sexually stimulated or aroused. I just all of the sudden felt this weird sensation.

I wouldn't count that as a relapse either, as it stopped happening the further I've gotten in my journey. It was like those muscles were exhausted from jerking off all of the time.

speak of the devil after commenting here yesterday i had my first one last night. Holy hell it was a lot. I do kinda feel a little down again but i dont think like that totally set me back ust a little to recover from.

Also yesterday i teased myself a lot looking at soft porn and some other stuff without MO, then drank before bed which i rarely do, OP...im wondering if you did either of those too where we could find some corrolation?

  8. You can feel numb all day after having a WD. They tend to occur quite often after a couple of weeks to a month, then they suddenly stop (can be different for you). After that, however, they still can be triggered. I had one the other day and I think it's because of seeing that sex scene in enemy at the gates. Ridiculous but anything during this process will hijack your brain quite easily. I wouldn't worry about it too much, after all it's against your will and you aren't reinforcing that destructive behavior. It's just your brain that is still quite sensitive. You need to give it time, eventually they will fade away.
Another thing, they probably occur more easily when you eat a poor diet.
    Take care.

  9. By the way they can also be a good sign. They won't occur when you masturbate every day or other day. The fact that they do occur shows that you are changing and re-wiring your brain. It is a sign of will power, although you are still quite sensitive it shows that your mind is stronger than your brain. This is a very good sign and something you can be proud of. Keep at it!

You posit that wet dreams "probably occur more easily when you eat a poor diet". Why? And where did you learn this?

  11. It probably depends. If you binge on sweets or crisps and therefore stimulate dopamine release, WDs are more likely to occur. This is just a theory don't think too much of it.
    Take care.

Interesting hypothesis. However, wet dreams and dopamine aren't really related. They occur most often in teenage boys due to increased testosterone production and an accumulation of excess semen.

  13. That isn't true. If it were true WDs would be predictable (like a woman's period) but they are not. Also explain to me why it is that I get wet dreams although my blood work shows that my testosterone levels are way too low. Also explain why they are more frequent during the first weeks of nofap. I'm putting my money on sensitivities in dopamine pathways. If your theory were correct, even older men would get a lot of WDs but they don't. They're simply more frequent because we are trying to break a habit that messed with our neurons. Also the body has no problem re-absorbing "excessive" semen. A biology teacher once taught our class they if a man were never to ejaculate, his scrotum would swell and he would walk around with football-sized testicles. These are ridiculous claims. A healthy man who's never had a porn addiction will rarely get wet dreams. WDs IMO clearly have something to do with changes in the (sensitive) brain. I'd even say they could occur much more after thinking about sex and lusting after people.

I'm not sure which part you believe isn't true. Regardless, wet dreams and a female menstrual cycle aren't really the same. I get that you're comparing the elimination of reproductive material, but the two systems (male and female) operate completely differently.
The levels of testosterone aren't really relevant. Wet dreams occur most often in adolescence because the body is just beginning to produce levels of testosterone to make significant changes. High or low are relative terms to a body used to almost no testosterone.
This is an interesting observation. It's anecdotal, so it's difficult to say exactly why there are many reports of wet dreams early in recovery. One hypothesis could be that years of regular masturbation leads to quicker build up of semen as the body compensates for regular depletion.
I'm not sure why you believe this. Older men don't commonly experience nocturnal emissions as often as adolescents because testosterone levels tend to be more stable and the body is used to the hormone.
This isn't true, at all. Wet dreams have been common place long, long before the internet and an increase in porn addiction.

This is an interesting discussion, but I think we may be missing what's important to understand regarding wet dreams and recovery. I'm really surprised there's as much discussion about them here as there is. They are a natural involuntary occurrence and there's no need for anyone to feel guilty about them or to consider it a relapse.
