Another way of fighting urges? Good or Bad? (Video Games)

Hey, so I thought I'd make this thread to get your opinion. First things first.

    1. I have relapsed after getting urges by looking at characters in games (Female characters tend to be made to look sexy, it's very common)
So I just got a new game and there are many sexy costumes and such, but I still do want to play this game so would it be okay if I dismissed any thoughts about that and just play the game? Would it actually help in a way that I'm ignoring what I used to consider something that would give me an urge and eventually my brain won't associate it with O anymore?

Just wanted your opinion on this because I'm doing hardmode but it sucks because there are so many games I want to play for the plot and not intentionally looking at the mature content at all, but it's there.

My advice is to limit your game time and ignore the sexual portrayal of the animated females. Just look at them non sexually. The problem with gaming, is like porn or masturbation it gives you serotonin hits so you're really just substituting your serotonin hit. The more hits you get the less sensitive you become which may lead to depression. I'm busy kicking gaming and porn out my life and feeling good about it.

I would say to stay away from the games. You have clearly identified as the characters in the games being triggers for you. Don't jeopardize your journey just to play a game. I would say once you have gone through or reached your goal you could always reassess the gaming. Your brain will also use that to get a dopamine rush.

Hmm, you're right. I'm actually focusing mostly on my studies, and have like 2 hours dedicated to this game because I grew up playing it and I do enjoy it very much :)

Do you have any other advice on lifestyle changes I can make? For a person who eats a lot of sugary foods, junk food and generally is very impulsive and gives in to temptations. (I'm not obese at all, I'm actually in good shape for some reason)

I was thinking about meditating as a start.

Does limiting my game time help? I'm mostly studying and dedicate short periods to play. Also, it only really "triggers" me if I use that character. What with the boobs physics on the character and all. But if I don't, then I'm good because I'm literally only looking at my character as it's a fast paced fighting game and I need to focus on combos and such. Would it be better that way? I mostly play two characters, a male one and a female who wears just a leotard.

Unlike when I view P or P subs where I'd get an erection, I don't actually feel anything really seeing these (somehow if I respect the thing I'm looking at, I just can't look at it sexually) so I was wondering if it's still good to keep on playing or keep it for until I've completed a certain number of days on my reboot. The triggers I mentioned are the addition of two new characters who are really skimpily dressed. One is practically in spandex and has holes exposed at her chest and butt ares and the other literally wears a thong and a crop top shirt. It gets annoying because my eyes do drift there sometimes. The bottom line is, do I have to completely stop?

Also thanks for approving my avatar, hehe :)

I'm 23 and grew up gaming my whole life. Only stopped for a month now. The way I've got through it is every time I feel like masturbating or gaming I either go for a run or go for a drive somewhere to get myself away from the temptation. I don't even run far. Maybe like a km just to reset my mind a little. If that doesn't help I'll message a whole bunch of friends to see if someone wants to meet up for drinks. But I won't lie. It's still very tough to resist. I also tried meditating but I'm too impatient for it so I could never sustain doing that. A little gaming here or there is fine but my life is definitely better for stopping.

You could try limiting it. As soon as you start feeling triggered though I would stop. @Health is key has good insight on the gaming thing. The reason I would say to stop gaming, is that your brain has tied gaming and PMO together. Like I said you can try to limit it, but don't be afraid to stop gaming altogether to help your brain reboot. I am a long time gamer as well, and since starting my reboot, I do find it kind of nice not having to play a game, or at least choosing if I want to play rather than, oh I have to play now so I can get to such and such a level, or beat that boss or what have you. It can be a fine line. Just make sure that if gaming starts to be a detriment to your recovery that you toss gaming out the window for the time being. Your reboot is yours, so you have to set the terms of your recovery.

Thank you very much, I appreciate the input. I'm putting gaming aside and playing on a very minimal level but will prioritise socialisation and other things. Thank you :)
