Hey Fapstronauts what's up? On my day 24. Starting a thread about the problem that bothers me. Today our problem is not considered as an addiction, when do they realise that it is? Where we will be then? What am I gonna do if I find these P stuff on the comp of my future's boy? When society realise that nuditiy and P is not something to be couraged, but banned?

Seriously for us trying nofap is a nightmare at the beginning. Travelling with public transport, walking on the street passing by a newspaper stand, gym, clubs or simply reading the gossip column on the internet news, triggers ... triggers everywhere. Today I searched on google for pictures of a hot actress (I know I shouldn't do that, I know that now believe me) and the feeling was just horrible, I literally feel that my brain awakes and urges me to fap, I feel it in my bones. It takes about 10 minutes to have control of myself again, after I closed the window.

A summer holiday with my friends two years ago we were drunk at night. P came up as a subject, they talked about favourite actresses and films (mainstream) for 1-2 hours. It seemed that they got the end of the story when I began to talk ... and they listened jaw dropped, actresses, films, fetishes came up they never heard of. I was proud of myself to having their attention for about one hour. Now I realised that it was shameful and toxic and miserable, whish I found nofap earlier.

Anyways I'am just pissed and angry that society doesn't acknowledge this as an addiction that's need to be cured. If they have did it yesterday, it would be already too late!

Sorry, I don't want u to be more depressed as u now fellows, I just need to get this out of my chest. On the contrary, we need to be brave and be the pioneer's of this, maybe we will be role models some day in the future and be able to help others!

Please share ur opinion if u like. Keep it up bros! Thanks for reading.

I think there is a distinct difference between "nudity and P." I don't think nudity itself is a bad thing - I think that when we only relate to the naked form sexually, that's a problem. I personally think we have really bad ideas re: nudity and body image in western civilization (I can't speak for other civilizations, only the one I've lived in), and that probably has helped lend itself to the overwhelming amount of P and Psub stuff out there in the world.

As far as your main point, when will society realize how damaging this stuff is - I've had that same conversation with myself (and with my SO). I feel like I want to get on my rooftop and shout at every kid that rides by on a bike, "DO NOT LOOK AT PORN IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE!" I think, much like with tobacco, we're at the beginning of understanding here. And, much like tobacco, I think eventually it will widely spurned and chastised for the damage its done to us individually and as a society. I also think it will always be around and people will always use it, just like tobacco.

  3. I believe this is a task to many of us, the one who completed rebooting can act upon his nearest people everytime the things about P or M will come to discussion. Or every time we see that someone can have a potential problem with PMO, it takes courage but we know what is this and we should share our struggle and knowledge with others.

I feel like society has gotten so opinionated that the idea of porn being bad for your brain will be shot down in its first attempts to educate the masses. The American Medical Association will have to make an announcement to all news outlets, and even that would probably fall on deaf ears. People will have to step up, as some former porn stars are doing, but it will take many more. There will need to be books written and shows produced for this to really start hitting home.

I was one of those stubborn users that had absolutely no shame in my indulgence of porn and the subsequent fetishes of the disease. If I was told even a year ago that porn was a problem, I wouldn't have listened because I "have it under control". In fact, I would probably still would be using shamelessly if my body response didn't finally give up on me. But yes, it will take a Herculean effort to turn this ship around.

Oh I agree with you - and the porn industry is something like a $19B industry, so likely has plenty of lobbying power to shout down detractors. Just like the tobacco industry. It will take a combination of hard science, whistle blowers from within the industry getting exposure while there is a ground swell of good science, and the voices of all of us to make it stick. Don't forget, for decades people thought smoking wasn't just not bad for you, but also had positive health benefits. Hell, back in the day Tour de France riders sometimes smoked cigarettes at the bottom of a big climb!

Yes I agree, I ment that I feel that the slightest reminder of P, for example a lingerie advertise - can give me hard times to focus on my goal.

I see what u mean, I guess I was just so pissed that I and up in this, that I'm angry for everything. U are probably right we can't turn this ship around easy we need to deal with it local first, forums, groups.

Yes I sometimes feel the same :)

Its worth too much money. When cable tv, pay per view, google, internet providers, hotel chains, cell phone carriers from Att to Verizon all make Billions off it. They control the media and control the internet and know its highly addictive and make $$$ there is no way they will turn it off. In fact its gone the opposite way. They want you addicted and want it legitimized as being normal and no big deal. Just like alcahole and cigs. They get you hooked and know it messes you up.. but they use sex to sell everthing to sports cars to gym memberships and work out gear, make-up, beuty products, cloths, vitamins, you name it. The entire consumer society corporations need you locked in the hampster wheel and mesmorized on how to get more and more of the sex drug as they drain your pocket. You are their slave. Go to work all day to make $ to buy crap to try to get sex.. or watch it..
    Homey Dont Play That!
Sex has been used to manipulate humans forever. Its not going to stop now.

Money is put before the betterment of society. Pretty much all profitable companies wouldn't break a sweat choosing profit over society. So long as the negative side of making a profit is kept under cover and away from public knowledge.
Terry Crews is the only public figure I know of that has spoken about this addiction publicly. That man has serious guts to step out in public and shine a light on it. He is one brave soul. If this forum wasn't anonymous I would be too embarrassed to sign up.
It would be great if there were more people like Terry Crews that could get the media's attention letting people know that porn can be addictive and have negative affects on life.
