    Hello all,

I realized a short time ago that P had a stronger grip on my life than I wanted, so I have resolved to do something about it. I have lurked around these forums for a few weeks and it's a has been tremendously helpful, so I thought I'd reach out and see if anyone could help me with some advice. I have found that eliminating P hasn't been a huge deal, in the grand scheme of things, but only video. I have been having a very difficult time kicking one "random" picture sharing board and which nearly always leads to MO... Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice or insight for a new guy? Thank you all!

You haven't eliminated P if your still looking at pictures. Your still using P. Stop going to the site. Do you have a plan for success? Are you journalling? Are you making note of urges and making plans for how to deal with them next time? Do you have an AP?

Thanks for the reply, Carbon, I can't say that I have recorded anything and don't have any set "plan". This is all new to me - and it has just occurred to me that P has an actual influence on my life. It hasn't caused any particular problems aside from time, time, time and a potential link to delayed finishing with the girlfriend, but I thought it might be a good idea to cut it out. I've just been a bit surprised that it hasn't been as easy to kick than I might have expected. You know? Video has been no issue, but I work nights and have a LOT of downtime so it's just so easy to go onto 4chan.... I'm wondering if there are others with similar experiences and what their tips might be. Thanks!

    Hi,
I'm currently on day 27 but prefer looking at the ratio of 50:7 (50 days no pmo to 7 failures) because that shows progress better)

I know how difficult it is because I still have moments of weakness where I take a peek or whatever the real thing is not letting that discourage you, its still progress and if you realise and stop yourself then that's win in my opinion you are slowly building up your will power it won't affect your benefits from abstaining either as long as you stay positive. I'm not saying it's good but its a start, compare it to what you would have done before and you will notice a big change

I suggest getting an internet block like McAfee safe family and making a password you can't remember after setting it up this helps your brain to realise p and similar things are not an option, reducing the temptation. Do daily exercise and focus on that every time you feel the urge to google images

    Good luck

Hey. I am currently having the same problem. I am approaching it by thinking of it as porn. Absolutely no sexually srimulating images at all. Create a zero tolerance policy and if you fall, try harder and make a tighter plan to kick it.

  7. I have to stay off sites like 4Chan, Tumblr, Reddit (I know...sucks!), and Twitter when I'm home alone on my computer. I've actually specifically blocked them with my filter (K9). If I'm in a public place on my tablet or at work, it's fine. I consider them gateway sites that just grease the skids for looking at harder porn. In particular for me are Tumblr and Twitter, where so many times I've started with looking at something innocuous, and then I veer off into looking at fitness models, then porn. It takes self awareness to see how this progression occurs. I think to really come clean, it will take some vigilance and sacrifice on your end (i.e. no more 4Chan for now), and then maybe over time you can ease up as your recovery strengthens and self awareness increases. I congratulate you for wanting to have success and clean up this area of your life!

Thanks so much for the encouragement and advice, all! It's so weird how this whole deal can creep up on you. I never realized it was even an influence on my life until I decided I didn't want to watch/surf it anymore. Looking back on it I can see how it actually had much more of an effect than I thought... It's not a good feeling to realize all the wasted time. I'm now on day 2, which is nothing but it's a start!

Thanks! This site has opened my eyes to a lot of things. It's amazing how pervasive and insidious high speed P can be...

I know exactly what you mean. Have long been immune to videos and have all kinds of down time and pictures are it. It's a constant struggle that I'm dealing with.

I'm right there with you, brother. I don't think I can add much to the conversation, though, other than to say that you're not alone and to offer whatever support I can.

The advice I was given was to go cold turkey, as well. Using the time that I spent on looking at images to do other things has helped me somewhat - I need to keep my brain too busy to think about looking at pictures. I'll agree with what someone else said in this thread: don't dismiss your two days as "nothing" - be proud of them, and the step you took to come here and seek help!
