Hello my name is "Marty Bryant". Or is it? Either way that is besides the point. I am 23 years old living in the good ol' sunshine state. Just graduated college and am still undecided on the career path I would like to take. Stuck between medicine and music.

With the most freedom and uncertainty I have ever had in my life, unfortunately has come a lack of discipline. I know it is something I need to work on and that is why I am here.

I have been fapping it out for about 10 years now and I have been trying to quit to no avail for the last 2. I am on a journey to become the best version of myself with mentors like Elliott Hulse and Eckhart Tolle. The best version of myself is not addicted to porn, I can tell you that for sure.

Porn has had a negative impact on my life. I have had trouble "getting it up" several times when getting intimate with females. I have a girlfriend now and I still fap it out all the time. Sometimes I won't make love to her because I am afraid that my porn addiction will cause me to have erectile dysfunction. On top of that on days where I fap I find myself much less productive and distractible. This is a serious issue for me and something that I have really struggled to overcome. I want to get really serious about this so that I can cut porn out of my life for good.

Today will be my first day without fapping. Yesterday I fapped four times X.X

It's easy to say that today is gonna be my last day but when that urge kicks in I have a real problem saying no. I have decided that instead of fapping whenever I get the urge I will either go on a walk, play the piano, or meditate. Hopefully that will help me alleviate it.

If you guys have any ideas on how to give it up and to work on my self-discipline that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers to our futures without porn,
    -Marty

    Hi Marty,

    and welcome to the community!

I understand how you feel perfectly, because my story is very similar to yours: I majored one month ago and I should be looking for a job now, but I am overwhelmed by the many possibilities that lie before me. Finding a position, writing resumès and applications, and waiting for a reply is a taxing process that raises many questions and doubts:

    Will I be good enough?
Is this what I really want to do?
    Will I fit in?

The stress has made me relapse 14 times in 11 days, ironically driving me further away from where I want to be. Now I am afraid to even apply because, if I really were given the chance of an interview, my horrible look would land me straight away into the "rejected" folder.

Anyway, remember: you're not alone. I am doing this, you're doing this, and countless of people have done it before.
As long as we keep searching, we will find our path, sooner or later.

    But the porn must go.

This is most definitely true! Definitely a bad habit that messes with human brains. It takes some serious discipline. The cool thing about it is that as you quit the habit of porn your discipline grows too. Two birds with one stone.
