Saturday afternoon, Taylor G Godoy’s talk was very touching for me. He started with a story of a young boy with an illness whose phrase was “one more day.” He was heard to utter it while at the Temple (Nauvoo I think?). The next day he passed away.

I was touched because that has been my go to phrase for 1000+ days in this community. I have used it countless times to encourage others and myself to just strive for one more day, let the bigger picture take care of itself, just be porn/fap free for 24 hours. One minute at a time. I was humbled to tears to share such a philosophy with this young boy.

In truth, I have at times worried though, that my encouragement might be too similiar to the “eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die” philosophy found amongst those in a darker path in the scriptures. Both favor the short goal by focusing on that rather than the long term goal. I’m favoring virtue and chastity, but still... I worried. Elder Godoy's talk gave me courage.

I have pondered this further and come to realize that _we must learn to manage the moment, or we will not be able to manage the future._

This single sentiment has been one of the many teaching moments I’m thankful for during conference this weekend.
