These verses resonated with me this morning. It helped me realize that like the Israelites, I let myself be carried into spiritual Babylon when I could not stop using porn. I became a captive to my sin. And now, like Nehemiah I am trying to rebuild my life like God intended. It is a tough road. But if I persevere it is worth it.

And so I insist—and God backs me up on this—that there be no going along with the crowd, the empty-headed, mindless crowd. They’ve refused for so long to deal with God that they’ve lost touch not only with God but with reality itself. They can’t think straight anymore. Feeling no pain, they let themselves go in sexual obsession, addicted to every sort of perversion.

The next thing to happen was that the officers of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked Jerusalem and put it under siege. While his officers were laying siege to the city, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon paid a personal visit. And Jehoiachin king of Judah, along with his mother, officers, advisors, and government leaders, surrendered. In the eighth year of his reign Jehoiachin was taken prisoner by the king of Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar emptied the treasuries of both The Temple of God and the royal palace and confiscated all the gold furnishings that Solomon king of Israel had made for The Temple of God . This should have been no surprise— God had said it would happen. And then he emptied Jerusalem of people—all its leaders and soldiers, all its craftsmen and artisans. He took them into exile, something like ten thousand of them! The only ones he left were the very poor.

Saint Augustine and Tao Jones. You guys seem to always be available and supportive. Do you ever engage people outside the Christian group? I was thinking how this site is a mission field.

I appreciate those verses @Myfortress. Scripture is the most edifying thing available.
I have only been on NoFap for 3 weeks, but yes, I have already engaged in conversation with people of different persuasion. Everyone here is looking for answers, and not just intellectual answers. They want answers that are highly practical: "how can your belief, or your God, help me with my addiction?" Just sharing your struggles, your story, and how knowing Jesus has helped you and given you strength through this, is a good starting point. Often, further conversations will follow. But the Gospel must be practical, and really serve to help.

Agreed. When I have opportunities, I am going to look for ways to use my experiences to present the gospel and point people to the Christian group.
