I want Both sides here People, but does anyone have an opinion on pastors and other very strongly devoted religious people being sexually repressed and consequently using their faith as a supplement for lack of gratification elsewhere in their lives?
I know this is a contentious subject, but it comes from a place of genuine interest, as I find myself:
A. a sexually repressed person
B. sometimes prone to bouts of extreme religious fervour

I am unsure if the correlations I am drawing are hugely inaccurate as I am not from religious circles living where I do in Canada.

I think there's a connection, but I don't see it as repression. Rather, redirecting excess energy towards other things.

I was raised in a religious household, but I've never thought of myself as particularly "sexually repressed." I wasnt really interested in sex in high school, because I was raised to believe that was something you did in marriage, so i just didnt think about it much. And now that I'm married, I'm able to have sex and theres no need for repression. I think some religious people take things too far and forget that God created sex not only for procreation, but also for pleasure and for bonding with your spouse
