This is my first post here. I discovered this page a few weeks ago and I am happy to have found it. I introduce myself briefly: I am 53 years old, I am an Orthodox Catholic and an "ex-gay", that is, I am attracted to people of the same sex, but I accept with full and conscious consent the teachings of the Church in this regard. That is, I try to live chaste. For a while I lived in the "gay lifestyle", but I always felt very uncomfortable with it. Many years ago I broke up with that, which has been like taking a huge weight off of me. I also managed to break up pornography, which is not my problem at this time. But I did get hooked on masturbation, which became a recurring and compulsive habit. I started on my own a NoFap challenge 18 days ago and, so far, everything is going very well. I have decided to do the challenge in the 90-days Hard Mode. I was reading about neuroscience some time ago and it seems to me that to achieve rebooting is a very rational and real option. My motivation is religious and moral: I want to live according to my values and strengthen the virtue of chastity. Whatever your motivations are, I wish you the best of success.

When it comes to masturbation, it is usually used as a means to release tension. This is why I've been hooked on it. But my therapist has recently introduced to me a method to replace this mode of releasing tension. Instead of wanking, one needs to sit still on a sofa or chair. One then tenses a segment of his body; this is done one at a time. For example, one tenses their right hand first and then releases. One then tenses their forearm, then releases. One then, tenses their upper arm, and then releases. You see where I'm getting at with this. You should try it. It works when you feel tense.
