It can help. I avoided relapse once when I was 70 days in just saying the St. Michael prayer over and over again. I was also doing dishes at the time, so an activity in conjunction w/ prayer might help.

Prayers always help! Something I have taken habit to is praying a prayer that is used in the eastern catholic churches called the Jesus prayer. Its really easy to do and it becomes a great habit. you simply inhale and say out loud or to yourself, "Lord Jesus, Son of god," and then you exhale and say, "have mercy on me, a sinner." and you just keep repeating and it sorta becomes a habit it to do throughout your whole day.
