Day number 4 today, God bless you all and hopefully we can all overcome this sin to be closer to God.

Dear brother in Christ. From personal experience I can tell you the following: Do not worry about how many days you have or have not managed to avoid watching pornography or not fall into the temptation of masturbation. The most important thing is to recognize that ONLY IN CHRIST WE WILL OVERCOME and that THE LOVE AND MERCY OF GOD is greater than our sin. Which leads to an authentic attitude of thanks to God for drawing us to Him and for living with Him in eternity. Thank God for your sexuality and your impulses and live clinging to His Love. He is faithful.

YonCharly456 - I love your comment. I do find the counter does help me, though, as an operant reinforcement tool. But, you're right to realize where the true grace comes from.

I respectfully disagree with @YonCharly456 . My advice is to keep tracking. Other addicts, and by that I mean those who had been addicted to drugs or alcohol, track the days they have been clean and many of them are very devout. Furthermore, do we not count the days since our last confession? At least, those of us fortunate enough to receive that sacrament since I cannot speak from experience having not received it yet myself as I am only an elect. So, there must be some importance in counting, surely. And this is an addiction like any other. I, of course, agree that through God all things are possible, but we must look out for each other as well.

"Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful." James (5:16)

Thank you to @Johnthesavage I think finding the balance between the two is what actually delivers success. You have to think that God is the reason you should overcome this sin, but also you gotta have a more tangible purpose for keeping it up. Thank you both for your comments God Bless you

I agree about the balance. At one point, counting days became THE thing and a source of pride and ego. Until I started building a better relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
