Hello, I'm returning to NoFap after a very long hiatus. I've been going to 12 step groups to
deal with my porn addiction but found them too religious (even though they'll say they aren't). Anyway, its good to be back and I'm looking forward to reaping the rewards of a porn-free life.

There are good secular addiction recovery groups. Check out this: http://www.sossobriety.org/

You're welcome! Despite popular opinion, 12 step programs are not very effective anyway. Here at this link from rehabs.com, you can see that most people drop out of those programs:
A review of AA member surveys over a nearly 30-year period found 81 percent of newcomers stopped attending after one meeting, and nearly 90 percent had dropped out within three months. Only about 5 percent make it a full year. A separate review of experimental studies testing the effectiveness of 12-step programs concluded nothing “unequivocally demonstrated the effectiveness of AA or [12-step facilitation] approaches for reducing alcohol dependence or problems.”

Rather than 12 step programs, I would definitely seek out non-spiritual/secular programs, or even one-on-one counseling with a therapist who specializes in addiction if you can. This community here is very helpful too as I’m sure you know, so many supportive people cheering each other on and giving invaluable advice and information on how they are navigating their own addictions. I like to read as many journals and threads as I can and piece together the wisdom that’s the most helpful.

Great info! I've been a member of AA for 30years or so now, sober from drugs and alcohol for 28. I have to say that I didn't start to work for me until I found agnostic and freethinker meetings. I've even helped start a few myself. They've been growing in popularity within it seems the last 8 to ten years, to the point we started a little sober club. All that being said, I still have my problems with porn and masturbation. I'm hoping that getting re-involved with NoFap will help
