    Once your brains reward centers are hijacked, by definition you are "addicted". So "any" type of stimulation will trigger you. This is why quitting cold turkey is so important. When your brain is trying to convince you that "Oh this is okay", thats the addiction trying to get its fix.

    What you described is how addiction works. Our mind "craves" the dopamine hit. Once it gets it, it moves on until it needs its next fix. Sugar, alcohol, gambling, drugs, etc. Its just a vicious cycle with no end.

    I just edged for 4 hours and I have an exam in 4 days

    Take a cold plunge/bath/shower. That will help to reset your brain. Also get some sun with your shirt off. You need to reset and return to your natural self.

    What to do when there's nothing else to do?

    One thing that really helped me was getting a GF and having regular sex. It really helped me rewire my brain and I do not get the same "addictive dope rush" from normal sex that I would get from PMO.
