    I really agree with you, but we interpret motivation differently. I don't use it just to start something (there I agree) but to help me CONTINUE, to STAY FOCUSED. You see for me motivation is like a goal. I like to know why I do something, for example when I have urges I think of why I started, why I should keep going and about my future, so I know I am taking the right decision and THEN I focus to something else.

    This is what is driving YouTube, Instagram, and many such apps which rely on your viewership to make money. We can use it as an opportunity or remain a consumer of things which such platforms serve us for getting our attention. Our attention span has significantly gone down since these last few decades, specially because of the random notifications and distractions. So beware of them ;)
