    Hello everyone:

Does anyone know if excessive edging can cause heart/cardio problems in the long term? Has there been any research done on this?

The reason I ask is because I have had some weird things happen to me during the last three months. I also have some weird ongoing symptoms. Before you ask, yes I am seeing a doctor about this. I am just wondering if my PMO addiction could have been a factor in this.

    Thanks!

Look at it this way, it may not do much harm, but extended periods of excitement (read stress) can't be that good for you, can they?

Look, if you even THINK that edging is causing problems, just stop edging ! Whether or not it may cause coronary troubles, it DOES cause other troubles that you can certainly live better without !

Short version: DO NOT EDGE ! EVER !

Edging is really bad. Edging trains your body and mind to expect and to need prolonged, often very intense, stimulation in order to reach O. That level of mental and physical stimulation doesn't happen with PIV relations. Guess what: when you attempt PIV, your body and mind don't receive the kind of stimulation it needs to O, instead your body responds with PIED and DE. Not good.

Edging does NOTHING good, so stop. Easier said than done, but it is certainly NOT impossible and very much worth every bit of effort required to stop this damaging activity.

For more information about edging, have a look at:

    DO NOT EDGE. EVER !

One day at a time is how we all succeed.

hi, yesterday I had a strong pain in my heart and I found this:

    https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.p...an-rebooting-as-the-best-remedy.135983/page-4

"Normally the symptoms ar expressed as:

    1. Head symptoms, including insomnia
    2. Heart symptoms, serious illness with the function of the heart
    3. Intestine and lungs symptom, the disorderly function of the lungs and intestines
    4. Skin symptoms, includes rashes, muscle ticks, stabbing pain, crawling ant feeling etc
    5. Full body symptoms, nowhere is comfortable"

therefore pmo (even excessively masturbating) could cause heart problems

I don't know of any research on this but i see how this could be a thing. I do think though most heart problems are anxiety related, as anxiety generates a lot of symptoms of heart problems, even if it's not really a heart problem, just a perception of heart problem.

Why i do think edging and particularly masturbation CAN create heart problems is because masturbation creates a very strong grip on the penis and the heart needs to pump more blood and at higher pressure to keep the erection going and to prevent damage to blood vessels.

And there's another technique that can damage the heart i think, and that is kegeling to get and maintain an erection, which also creates lots of blood pressure. This can happen even without masturbation, just by staying erect by using your kegels voluntarily or not.

I was able to get extremely powerful and raging erections by clamping my kegels but that was not healthy at all for my penis.

kegels and erections are two different things. with a right kegel contraction your penis should move very little. you were doing the kegels the wrong way. the muscles you have to use to make kegels are those around the anus, these muscles should tighten.

I was definitely doing something wrong and i was doing it involuntarily, way before even learning about kegels. I was basically squeezing the base of my penis with the BC muscles.

Apparently you need to train your Ischiocavernosus and stop using the BC muscle.

to make kegels you must use the pubococcygeus muscle

I apologize for taking so long to follow up on this thread. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

The reason why I asked this question is because I had a come-to-Jesus moment back in May. I'm sure some of you will laugh at this, but I had a transient loss of consciousness while taking my First Aid/CPR refresher training. You know that feeling you get when you get up from a chair too fast? Well that is what I felt. Except that I was just sitting at the time and was not moving around at all. I was out for a couple of seconds. My instructor told me afterward that the left half of my body went pale. Of all the places this could have happened...

After reading through everyone's comments, I don't doubt that edging contributed to this. I was dealing with a lot when this happened (looking for a new place, landlords keeping me up during the day when trying to sleep, and working 100 hours straight over a two week period among other things). Yes I slipped around this time. This was a stressful time for me and I fell into the trap of self-medicating with PMO.

I agree with what you all are saying about how edging keeps dopamine levels jacked up and the heart pumping a high volume of blood over a long period of time.

So if you take a stressful situation and throw in a few hours of edging, it makes perfect sense why I lost consciousness. This must have been my body's way of telling me to pull back on the throttle.

Hi, I have heart problems, and guess what - they get worse with PMO, and fade away when I abstain. I used to edge like crazy, and I do think that that level of sustained stress (which is effectively what it is) is very damaging.

If you faint when standing this is likely due to low blood pressure - this is something I had a lot in the past. It seems to be due to the heart not pumping strongly enough, but also due to a sluggish response of the vascular system - ie your blood vessels should tighten when you stand, to help maintain blood pressure, but if they don't then you can black out when standing.

The good news is that the problem should go away if you stop PMO'ing.

If you have these types of pains you need to see a cardiologist. Not all physical problems are related to PMO.

I went to see one about a couple of months ago. They had me wear a holter monitor for a day but they never found anything.

Yeah I have been trying to find a definite cause of this, but have not had any luck. However, I have been feeling better recently. I noticed a difference when I cut down on my caffeine intake. I also noticed that I feel similar symptoms after edging for a long period of time. For this reason, I decided to have my sponsor hold onto my laptop for the next 3 months.

I would expect edging for a long time will affect the heart... it's forcing it to pump blood in the penis for dozens of minutes or even hours. And masturbation, especially with a death grip, forced the heart to put out higher blood pressure to keep the penis rigid so that it doesn't get damaged.
