I'm led to believe that I have an addictive personality. Which is why I've stayed far away from addictive substances like drugs or alcohol. Porn I guess I was sorta addicted. But I think I have another addiction that I need to get control of.

TV Series. I have a large data cap and the knowledge to "acquire" tv series from the net. I have an app that I use to regulate my episodes that I've seen. According to it, I've spent 2 months, 26 days, 14 hours and 45 minutes watching tv series. I've binged them before. I've watched them when I should've been doing other things like homework or chores or other shit that needed doing.

I need to control this. And I don't know of a community that can help me with this.
Is there anyone here that has the same type of addiction to tv series that I do? Or know any other online communities that help with this kind of thing?

    Feedback is most welcomed.
    Thanks for reading

Make a plan. When do you want to cut it down and how drastically or with what conditions?
Do you want to use your data cap some more and begin with a challenge in say a month or do you want to change right now?
Try to measure your motivation to do something else VS your desire to watch. And set realistic targets.
And what will you do instead of watching?

    (btw excuse my english :D)

Your english was just fine ;).

I've been thinking about it actually. I feel that I'm not doing justice to the shows (because they're awesome and a lot of work goes into them) and to myself because I feel guilty after I watch them. I thought about creating a weekly counter. For me to not watch series until the end of the week (sunday). This way, I'll download through the week and with all the time I'll have from not watching I'll actually do the shit I need to do.

I feel I'm a lot more focused to fulfil the promise once I've created a counter. Because I have it visible to everyone here and I have to be honest about it (otherwise what's the point?) and I'd feel ashamed at having to reset it.

    What do you think?

    Try to make yourself busy..

I was addicted to anime, however, we ran a family business.
I try to help as much as I can.
I still watch anime but it's not frequent than before.

    How about this..
After I've finished my chores today, I'll reward myself an episode/s

    Hi Kennen

Good to hear from you. I've tried those episode reward system tactics before. I end up either watching while I was eating or saying to myself: "I'll watch this episode now and do the work after. It's one episode, there's plenty of time after right?" Aaaaaand it's the end of the day and I'm tired from sitting on my ass the whole day.

But thanks for a healthy suggestion.

I'll enjoy watching guilt-free. I set Sunday as my series day. Lets see me keep to that.

I should be too busy already. I'm glad you can identify with it.

Oooookay, Today is saturday and I'm alone at home. I've got things to do and I have series that I haven't watched. Sooo, today is about me not watching anything!

Glad I have the support from all of you.
    Let's see how I do

  10. Hello friend, there are a lot of addictions indeed, and since PMO gave us that feeling of wellbeing we started to believe that it is ok to spend hours on video games, hours on tv shows, hours laying in bed, hours to keep us entertained. Well it is not, do you see the big picture? everyone has games on the cellphone, now they can watch tv shows on the cellphone, cellphone is a computer right now rather than an instrument to communicate with others. Somehow we are make to believe that being entertained is ok, but spend like that almost the whole day is NOT, there are so many things to do and to learn, so many things to discover, people to meet, improvements to achieve. You are right now on the next level which is understanding how your hours pass, and trying to do something for you or for the others, other than relaxing. I still believe that there could be a day in which you say "today I really want to do whatever I want", as long as it is not hurting you (PMO, drugs etc.), but in each day of our life it is better to be productive. I noticed that the more I know, the more I can speak of with people, culture is important. Even using the computer for a lot of time could be nah, but it depends IMO; I can use it to read e-books, watch documentaries, LEARN.
