Is it a good ideia to release intentionally after a certain period of time? Did anyone of you ( with more than a 90 days streak ) done this?

Masturbation is a gravely disordered act and you'll be inviting disorder into your body, your mind, and your life. Masturbating for release is still a grave sin. Your body will release naturally. There's just no need for it.

No, I did not. I understand that what underlies this question is a thought that the generation of lust in our minds is a physical phenomenon akin to the filling of a balloon. At some point the pressure must be released or the balloon will burst. However, I don't think this is an accurate model. When we liken porn addiction to alcohol addiction, no one would advise the recovering addict to have a drink every 90 days.

I believe there is another "relief valve" we are able to use. That is, intense, prolonged prayer. Mr. Eko (free for over 6 years) advises to focus on Jesus in times of temptation and to keep praying until the temptation is gone. As he says, if one was being attacked by a mugger we wouldn't give up fighting after 20 seconds, we would persist until the mugger gave up and moved on.

@CPilot Thanks for the words. I will try to pray the whole rosary everyday. And if i get tempted, i will use the Jesus Prayer or some other prayer. Thank you, again.

Besides, your body has nocturnal emissions/wet dreams for release. It's totally unnecessary.

Lately, when examining my conscience, I had to acknowledge that I have relaxed some of my discipline to not allow my eyes to linger on an alluring picture or person. It is only a few fractions of second and a few returning glances but I know what this can lead to by virtue of my many failures before this reboot. More disturbing, I must admit that in my heart, I still desire these insidious things. Last night when I awoke with some insomnia, I caused myself to begin recalling the nature of Our Precious Lord as described by Fulton Sheen. The more I focused on Christ, the more peace I felt. Such amazing help.

Never go back. I was clean once for 2 and a half months about 2 years ago, and then I gave in. I've been fighting and failing to get back there ever since. Don't do it.
