I'm so bad at this forum thing. I start to write and realize I'm just complaining. I don't want to just whine or vent, but every time I come on here I try to ask questions I already know the answer to and so I just delete. Even this feels super whiny and pathetic and am having second guesses about posting.

DO I just get my feelings out whatever way I want? Is this a typical symptom of the first week without PMO? I've been going to work, coming home, cooking dinner, and watching tv, listening to podcasts or music. Doing whatever I can to not PMO. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't know whether I'm bored as fuck or just going through withdrawal.

Yup although it's gonna take time and depending upon when you started watching porn and for how long it's gonna vary.

  5. Your reboot log is a great place to post this sort of thing. It's a good place to just vent.
Yes, anything constructive. Find a hobby. Join a club. Play sport. Write. Paint. Read. Go for a walk. Browse a bookstore. Get a puzzle book. Anything at all that's healthy and that will engage your mind or your body, or both. If you do an activity that involves other people, that's also good.

Thanks. As for the mood swings, how bad can they get? I felt like almost crying last night because I was forcing myself not to watch anything. I've taken out videos, pictures, literotica, and even dating apps (feels almost like the porn equivalent for dating) and I literally almost cried b/c I had no idea what to do. I was too tired to read. It was too late to go out, and I was wide awake. Ended up taking some melatonin so I'd go to sleep.

  7. Although those mood swings feel awful, think of them with gratitude, because it means that healing is happening.

One reason for the mood swings is that your brain is trying to figure out how to function without the drug (think of porn as a drug, because it physically alters your brain). It takes a little while, but gradually your brain will figure it out and start to get rid of the excess receptors that it built to cope with the drug. In other words, it's trying to reverse the damage.

Another reason for the mood swings is that you have a ton of emotions that you have not dealt with. As a healthy person goes through life, he gets problems, and he deals with them as they arrive. This is a process of learning, gaining wisdom, and growing stronger.

But in a drug-addicted person, instead of dealing with each problem, he hides it by taking a drug — whether it's alcohol, binge eating, watching porn, whatever. This means that the problems are not dealt with, and they gather up in a massive untidy queue.

These problems, which are mostly now at a subconscious level, are welling up, because instead of drugging yourself, you are allowing yourself to feel them.

This is where therapy will help. I cannot state enough how important therapy is to your healing. If you don't deal with your problems now, you will ultimately end up going back onto drugs. If not porn, then something else like alcohol.

Your profile doesn't say where you live. If you live in a modern rich country (except the USA), you might be able to get therapy free or cheaply through your local health service. If you're elsewhere, you'll have to get what you can afford.

Some therapies are available free if you look them up on YouTube or get a book from your library (EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique, yoga, mindfulness, and more), although of course they're never as good as seeing a professional in person. Some might be available free or low charge, such as finding a local Buddhist group for meditation. You can try massage therapy (using a genuine professional, not a massage parlour!), Reiki, hypnotherapy, counselling, CBT or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, systemic family constellations, and many more.

Here's a list of therapies that I've gathered, most of which I've tried:
    • ask your GP
    • CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy)
    • clinical psychology
    • counselling
    • craniosacral therapy
    • EFT (emotional freedom technique)
    • hypnotherapy
    • Indian head massage
    • massage therapy (by a professional, not a massage parlour)
    • matrix reimprinting
    • meditation
    • mindfulness
    • network spinal analysis
    • NLP (neuro-linguistic programming)
    • reflexology
    • Reiki
    • systemic family constellations
    • tai chi
    • yoga
There are other many other therapies available!

Search for what feels best for you, subject to your budget. Treat every therapy as an experiment, because every therapy works well for some people but poorly for others, and you can't tell in advance which ones are best for you.

    Best of luck!

Wow. That was some really awesome info. Thanks for taking the time to read and write.

I have a counselor I've been seeing but since I just moved away from him, I haven't talked to him in a while. We will be chatting on the phone tomorrow to go over the past couple of months. We took a break for the holidays. I want to find a person in my new city, but I really don't want to have to go through the entire back story of why I'm there and all the rapport I've already built with this other guy.

I've started doing yoga about 30 minutes a day through youtube. Yoga with Adrienne is dope. Look her up if anyone else reads this. It's helping slowly but sure. I definitely feel a change in my body's flexibility. It's helping with my breathing a bit more but it's not as good as I want it to be. I think I need a little more cardio.

If you check out one of my other posts, I'm dealing with sort of a lazy left eye that only really occurs when I stare at a screen for too long (like at work or watching porn). Another user said it's due to an inactive cerebellum which controls coordination so I'm trying to do exercises to fix that. I'm a former athlete so I'm a bit embarrassed with coordination. So I'm rock climbing, doing yoga, and I guess I need to start running or doing HIIT or something.
