Is this an improvement or my urges manifesting differently?

Hello guys! I just hit 33 days hard mode. Before deciding on nofap When I used to watch porn daily and/or masturbate, I just had no dreams while sleeping. In past 30 days I dreamt more often & they are somewhat sexual in nature. Yesterday it was very vivid and passionately sexual(without any wet dreams or orgasm) I felt really good about it. There was also fleeting thought that I should look for a partner. Is this my brain getting better or is it just brain’s way of trying to get me to think about sex?

I am a bit confused. What do you guys think? Any insights will be really helpful.

Well, both I think. Once you start NoFap your brain resets and makes yourself more impulsive and clear headed so you can focus on attracting members of the opposite/same sex (biological reason, but you can use this energy for anything else) and have sexual relations (our biological goal is to reproduce). I do not think it could be one or the other, they are two and the same, when PMOing we are just dissociating sex with women/men and that leads to problems.

According to my experiences I think dreams sometimes show the things that are stored in the subconscious mind. As we are abstaining from PMO, we are actually suppressing our desires by not allowing ourselves to give in. So, keeping that fact in mind I think it is the brain's way of showing us our deep feelings and desires in our subconscious mind. Gradually erotic thoughts and dreams shall subside and become less and less frequent in my opinion.

That is an opinion indeed. I started having several wet erotic dreams daily from days 180-200, then they stopped. Its all exclusive to each and every different individual.
Just worry about putting in PMO free days to your streak for now and dont worry about this stuff (erotic dreams) so early on. I do know they mean something is going on inside your brain, but I forgot what it was, ill just have to look it up later. Just stay clean thats all that matters, Keep up the good work bro!

You know, I'm about 16 days in (Hard Mode) and this is my truth too. For about 6+ years, I thought I had lost the ability to dream and had left it at that. My sleep was generally sleepless during this PMO ad.

That was right up until July 2017, when out of nowhere I did not PMO for two months. By the time I relapsed, I was almost convinced I had been either demonized or was now suffering from a strange disease. Physical symptoms including nervous shakes, a very small rash showing on certain parts of the body intermittently, and an increase in weight had manifested, yet my doctors told me I was normal and all this was inmy head.

Then, my thinking had cleared up tremendously, I seemed to remember things significantly better. And the dreams, they came in waves, vivid dreams of all sorts.

After I relapsed. I was convinced, I gotta do this shit again. Whatever just happened to this body and soul in these months of no PMO could be the secret boost I had been looking for.

Soldier, you're not the only one who's experienced a surge in dreams, I have too. Let's keep the Hard Mode. We will succeed. And although we may not come out holding physical accolades and trophies, we will emerge the most confident men there are, whose minds are rid of those senile graphic videos and replaced by plans under ececution to make our lives better.

I reckon it's your brain recalibrating itself as it adjusts to the new normal. I appreciate that such dreams may be troublesome if they give you urges the next day, but other than that, I think (and needless to say, I'm no expert, this is just gut feel and armchair logic) they're a good sign.

    Let go and let God.

Your past addiction doesn't matter in the presence of your own self: You love yourself and want to let other people feel your love. Once you have the mindset, the addiction fades away because only truth and love can sustain the weary of time.

Thanks mate. I was thinking on similar lines. It is a good thing that I am not allowing my brain to get free dopamine from porn. I guess it is pushing me to act towards seeking romance in appropriate ways. This in itself is an improvement!

@Vherenz I guess that is true. My subconscious mind is telling me about the suppressed needs. Which in this case is a blessing.. its like my subconscious saying “you are not giving my boost through porn, but let me remind you I still need to be satisfied so do the right thing now”

@Chumanew thankfully I did not have the shaking etc. but totally same experience as you regarding dreams. I hardly ever used to dream. But now I get dreams. Thats kind of a relief knowing I m still human. :)

There were urges but I knew better not to act on them. Yes I am definitely taking it as a good sign.

Guys I have one more opinion, I think any form of edging or strong urges before sleep can also lead you to have wet dreams. By edging I mean any form of visual erotica or playing with your little friend. This might lead to suppressed bodily need which in turn might manifest in your dreams. I think it's a brain's way of clearing any congested fluids which had accumulated due to edging(watching or playing). I don't know if anybody else can relate to this but this has happened in my case.

I am pretty sure I have not edged in last 34 days. Though I do come across PSUBs once in a while. In fact I uninstalled instagram and pinterest from my phone to avoid psubs of any kind. I must say PSUB exposure has considerably reduced after that.

It is still a fight. There is always an odd exposure. But lets persist brothers!

I lost my instagram too, along with snapchat, Facebook and even Twitter. All that's left is whatsapp now. Planning on reinstalling after 90 days
