Occasionally I see something provocative by accident like a bikini pic scrolling through my insta feed or an ad for one of those sex games when I'm on illegal move sites. Should this count as breaking a no pmo streak?

It doesn't count as breaking the pmo streak, though you should keep in mind that

    1) those are triggers you want to avoid running into, so you would be better off unfollowing pages/profiles who upload them or better yet stop using instagram

    2) if you are actively seeking out images of the sort, thinking "they're not real porn" but knowing you'll get a small rush seeing them, then your brain is rationalizing things to try and get you to relapse. So if you are looking for semi-exciting stuff, stop or you'll hinder your recovery (and probably eventually end up pmo'ing)

So any triggers you run into by accident and that you don't linger on shoudn't count as reset, because just like nightfall you weren't in control, but they are obstacles in your way

Much of pop culture / media is heavily sexualised. For many of us, sexual fetishes are more prominent now (everyday things can become fetishised, and then sexualised in our minds). So even non-sexual things can become 'triggers'. The same applies for video game / animation stuff.

As Navier says, just be aware that they are pretty hard to avoid. If you see them, it's best practice just to move on and not to dwell on them (either with your sight, or in your mind).

I would compare it to a 'recovered' alcoholic who can eventually learn to go to a pub / bar and enjoy a non-alcoholic drink, despite being surrounded by various alcohols (triggers). This is a reality for some who succeed with recovery - the same can be applied to anything that works as a pornographic trigger (even if it isn't explicitly sexual).

However, be aware that at the early stages, if you dwell or regular encounter things that are triggers, it can potentially lead to the same result of PMO. I hope this helps :)

I would say no UNLESS you actively search it out.

Personally, I would unfollow anyone on IG that posts provocative pictures and not break the law to watch movies. But that's just me.

  6. if you don't go there to look at those things then it's fine
also avoid those risky images, it'll most likely lead to a relapse

It's interesting to think of how the word is used in other contexts like 'food porn' - and some social media is like social porn. Chatting and camming is like both social and sexual porn at the same time.

I myself classify my porn use as looking for any "purposely posted sexual content", meaning anything that I have gone looking for that has been posted for the purpose of sexual gratification. If we consider the ads popping up or the bikini ads on the street a slip, we would be porn addicts forever, these are impossible to avoid, you can only control yourself when you do.

It's a dangerous trigger but doesnt tecnically break a pmo streak. Saw one of those dangerous triggers today when downloading a Touhou song on youtube, it sucks case their songs are good, but the damn image arouses me, had to stop downloading the music for today to prevent a relapse.

    I suggest running a adblocker

Anything you intentionally seek out counts. If you notice it then avoid it, it doesn't count as breaking it. But if you notice it and use it as a loophole because it's "not porn" then that counts. The point is to deprive your brain of that rush until your reliance is broken. You'll never be 100% free of sexual content, with ads and shit, but you can keep it to a minimum and focus on yourself.

Anything that makes you want to relapse is considered porn
