I am a college failure

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by vulture175, Feb 25, 2016.

  1. I dropped out of my college to find out what my problem was. My advice is to gain some mastery over NoFap and your body before trying college again if you're set on that.

I used to think that way about myself. I was kicked out of my first university for having many failed subjects. I stopped for 2 semesters while in my 2nd university for personal problems. I'm delayed for 2 years. My first major in my first university was 5 years and my second major in my second university was 4 years. Also for 3 sems after I came back from stopping I only took a few subjects. That's why I'm 2 years delayed. I felt old compared to most of my classmates who were usually 2 or 3 years younger than me and most of them politely address me. I felt like a failure because most of my high school classmates have already graduated and are working and some have even left the country while I'm still getting my degree. That is until I started to join the activities of my major's organization and also the activities of the uni. I started to make friends and have fun. The age gap started to not matter. I stopped feeling sorry for myself and just do my best and make the most of my time in my second uni.

Now my graduation is in April. I will miss my second university, friends, classmates, acquaintances and professors. But I definitely am proud that I an finally finished with this part of my life.

My advice is study hard, party hard. Don't be too serious and have fun. College is supposed to be fun. Yes you have to be serious about quizzes, exams and thesis papers but that's not all what college is about. There's a reason why there are many college organizations: for you to explore your interests, make friends and for the final time HAVE FUN!

I also had problems with college, but it was all because of my poor performance, so when I realized this, I started looking for ways to improve my performance. I even found a service https://papersowl.com/write-my-literature-review, which helped me with writing my literature review, because the main difficulties I had were with them. And I can say that it was a great help at that time, then I started to improve my knowledge in other areas and after some time of serious efforts I succeeded and my success reached a completely different level.

  4. It took me six years to finish my undergrad and earn a degree that I don't really use outside of saying to employers "hey look, I finished college". Demonstrable skills matter a lot more than credentials, but out society is not well set up for cultivating the talents of young adults so we all just muddle through. This is not true of the upper classes that are connected socially, politically, and financial but we have to work with what we've got. Most of us end up cultivating our talents on the job, whatever that job maybe. But its hard (not impossible) to get that first job without the credentials. Its a catch-22 each generation inflicts on the next. But I digress.

I was an emotional, anxious, depressed, and angry pariah when I was in college. I had very few friends and made almost all the young ladies I was interested in extremely uncomfortable. I have numerous memories of embarrassing myself in front of large groups of people as I tried to figure out how to properly get the attention of my peers. Social isolation is the most painful thing a person can endure, but it is the proper response to those who are mistreating others and I was, though I didn't really realize it.

So what happened? I got a religion (see links below if interested) that is crystal clear about responsibility for ones actions and the difference between right and wrong. I also noticed that when I brought it up people were a little bit more interested than when I was actively trying to do things to impress. What else did I do? I kept trying to get better at making friends, which as it turns out, means I had to get better at offering friendship to other people as well as understanding what friendship actually is. I also had to get better at helping myself and learning from my own mistakes. Its a lot easier to get along in life when you have things to offer and can depend on yourself for the basics.

Where am I now? I am 37, at the beginning of my second career, I have a handful of friends I can count on, and I have had my fair share of relationships with women. As an adult, I have finally come to see that when it comes to relationships I should be looking for women that are worth committing too, not for women who are willing to get into bed with me. I can make a similar statement about friends. Look for people that make you better and have your best interest in mind, not just anyone who will hang out with you.

While it is a minority opinion on this board, I am of the mindset that the goal should be to look at porn less as time goes by. Don't beat yourself up if you can't resist the urge to rub one out. Instead, refocus your efforts on making yourself into the man you want to be. Your porn use will fade with time that way. Mine has anyway. Alternatively you can do the hard 90. To each their own.

You can change your life and your circumstance. You can, you will, you must. If I found a way so can you.

You need a Side Gig badly, you clearly are failing at devellopping networks inside college, worry not, you arent the only one and the whole thing is unlikely to be your fault, I only realized most of this in my Master's 2nd year, that unlike my successful peers, I aint gotting no Stagiares, no nothing, a lot of media and shows lie to you about having a shot at Stagiares and a career but thats a lie, nowadays we live in Gig Economy world, you need dinamism contacts, a network, but most of all you need to be in control of your time and investing in your time at your own pace.

Education trapped you, it forced to conform to this or that thing, promising you more than whats reasonable and as such you'll inevitably reach this point.

Devellop Gigs, your own money, but keep yourself in college til you have useful degrees, and find a career, dont be a slave to college education too, you need to maintain what you know, I barely know any french after years without praticing it, so avoid that.

@Anti-Hero : No man, still fighting it, it probably gonna stay with me for life, so i guess the battle will never end. It's okay
@ThePeakWae : yeah man, i got what ya mean. Everything was wisely said. Things would get much easier if a good network was built. And yes, maintaining things that learnt sounds easy but a challenge, thought things are learnt would never be forgotten, it's not, it's easy to forget things even when at a time we were so fluent in it.

Some college drop outs are the most successful people on earth.
Don't judge your character by your College success.
    Have faith in yourself.

True, but thats cause they say FU to College and go build their own networks, instead of working inside prexistent ones there, or simply pick other networks to work inside of (usually networks of more successful people) and then raise up their value in society.

I'd say life works in many ways, even if college fails, at least, in gaining awareness of the facts, one can begin to plan on the next step.

Depends on what you are set up to do, not everybody can be a Astronaut for example.
