I've struggled with DE, and trying to explain DE to previous girlfriends for the longest time. I tried doing a personal challenge of abstaining from masturbating with little to no success, never lasting more than a few days.

Recently I started dating someone that I want to fix this for, no, NEED to fix this for. We were together last night and I couldn't finish without doing it myself, and she blames herself and started crying... I just can't put her through that just because I can't control my urge to watch porn and pleasure myself. Tonight I almost did it, but the image of her popped into my head, I searched around and found this site.

So today is my ground zero, my day one. I hope I can heal in time.

After looking around I found one of the best tips was to wear a ring you don't usually wear on your preferred hand's thumb (for me that's my right hand). If I start to break I'll notice the ring (I'd have to take it off due to it's abrasiveness) before I even have a chance to start. Hopefully that helps.

Any other tips would be useful. I'm new to this, so any lingo or jargon specific to this I might not know.

Hey Wisdom, you've made a great choice. Note, the journey won't be easy, however keeping your goals in mind (i.e. when you thought of your girlfriend to turn you away from pmo) and being constantly disciplined will get you far. I recommend getting a pmo counter, (just click on mine in my signature to get one) and starting a daily journal. The PMO counter is great for reminding you how much progress you've made, and I've found that simply having a journal you update daily keeps you away from pmo. Oh, and since you said you're new to all the lingo, here's a glossary of most, if not all, of the terms we use here. Good luck on you're journey, wisdom!
