    Hello. Harpsichord here.

I've recently discovered NoFap and decided to sign up after reading about addiction to PMO, and the fact that NoFap is looking for as much anecdotal information as possible.
I am seriously considering that PMO might have played a significant role in my life that has been going on a slow downhill this past decade, and for this reason I have embarked on a challenge the details and progression of which will be posted in a journal thread if you'd like.
I don't have the worst P-addiction ever seen, but I'd like to contribute nonetheless!

Sounds great. As someone whose life quality has been greatly reduced by the use of pornography, I feel confident in saying that it's definitely played a significant role in your own.

Anyhow, it's great you're here. Have you implemented any tools to stop the use of pornography? If not, take a look around the site, and you'll find a lot of different options available. In my own life, I've found exercise, goal-setting, and prayer/meditation to be of benefit. Hopefully you'll find what works for you, and I look forward to hearing updates of your successes.

I only realized it when stumbling upon this forum, but my previous streak has brought with it many benefits, short as it was. Posts of people like you are what inspired me to reflect on my situation in this way.
As for options, I'm using NoFap as an "excuse" to implement many things in my everyday life. For example, I really want to learn skiing this winter and want my legs and technique to be ready, so I try to go outside and exercise (not just my legs). Check out my journal thread if you'd like, though it's got a really long intro that I haven't finished writing.

NoFap is a rare and unique community. Good luck to you in your own efforts!

That is true. That's been one of my favorite things about it. With all the extra time and self-confidence, it feels so much easier to learn new skills. The latest example for me is knot-tying. I've always been terrible at it for some reason. Most people can pick it up pretty easily, but I've had the hardest time. But I decided I'm sick of not being able to not tie knots, so I've been investing the time to learn a variety of them. This time, I've found it much easier. I still wouldn't go so far as to say I'm good at tying knots, but my ability to learn them seems to be greatly improved.

So if for no other reason, commit to NoFap for all the knot-tying gains :)

Seriously though, I'll check out your journal, and I hope all goes well.

According to my calculations (what calculations?) it should theoretically go well, but many on this forum emphasize keeping your guard up.

Oh yes you keep that guard up!
Urges strikes from the shadows, when we're on our weakest points. Urges is not a fair player, it will kick you in the balls and make you bleed white. Be careful

Right now I don't expect it, but as I hit 2 or 3 weeks I really don't know what to expect...

It is essential. I've actually gone periods of a year or more without pornography only to fall back into it. The reason is that I basically forced myself to abstain by cutting off my home Internet connection, getting rid of my TV and DVD player, using a basic phone, etc. However, I didn't spend enough time developing positive habits, which is why I started using it again once I regained access.

So it's definitely important to develop as many constructive habits as possible and always remain vigilant.
