Okay so I remember when I was very young. I had such an amazing memory, at 8 years old I knew my entire timestable up to the 12x. You could give me a random question like say 8x7 and I would be able to answer it straight off the bat without hesitation. That was at 8 years old. I’m in my twenties now and I wouldn’t be able to do that. At least not without actually working it out first.

I’m not sure how old I was but I remember I could also recall movies with great detail. I could read an entire page of a book and remember everything I had read. Now I often find myself re reading it over and over again. It’s like I will get 4 lines down and I completely forgot what I just read and I will have to go over it again and still sometimes forget again.

It’s almost like I’m reading the words but I’m not concentrating on them.

My concentration is shot and my memory along with it. Memory is one of the most important things when it comes to learning. Because if you can’t remember what you’ve just learnt... well then you haven’t learnt it. Even with video games, I don’t play them so much now. For example when you’re just starting out a game you will be given the option of let’s say... 4 characters, each characters have different abilities and what not. I will read one characters abilities and then move onto the next having completely forgotten what the other characters can do. It’s ridiculous.

I’m just curious, has anyone else had significant memory problems since being addicted to porn? If you’ve recovered, did your memory come back?

I’ve read a few stories on here where people claim their memory went back to what it was like before they were addicted... I just need a little hope that I can get back to where I was.

Initially, i thought I was alone when i was experiencing these kinds of symptoms. We have to understand that pornography along with masturbation provides a similar affect to some of the most addicting recreational drugs. With that being said, the fact that you've had memory problems is a sign to abstain from it. Take a time-out and try to refrain yourself from watching it too much.

The same phenomenon happened to myself, and I assumed that I was just getting stupider. They is to identify this habit as a weakness since it compromises your ability to learn and retain information. Think about your future if you were continue this behavioral pattern, you might suddenly forget some of the most important daily routines. I sure did... I live with room-mates and they noticed my room had a strange smell and that I stopped cleaning, and I always had an excuse to barricade myself in my room all day.

When I decided to abstain from PMO, my memory did come back and it came back even sharper. "The more you abstain, the smarter you get," is what I began telling myself. I had no way of proving this scientifically, but there was a time period to where I was heavily addicted and it was not serving my life in the correct purpose. I missed out on important dates, birthdays, holidays and I didn't care for anyone except for this destructive sexual behavior.
