is this a relapse.

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Oct 24, 2017.

  1. Does looking at porn titles on google count as a relapse? I screwed up and looked at some porn titles with no pictures but I did have a bit of pre cum so does this count as a relapse?

I'd say no but very close. You didn't watch but you were in the zone. If you're anything like me, then if you do that once or twice more you will end up relapsing.

  3. If you went looking for it yes but if it was an accident than no however you held strong so I would just move on.

It's all about intent. If you intentionally seek out pleasurable forms if stimuli, regardless if it's visual, aural, or whatever, for self-pleasure you are going against a pledge to reboot.

Dust yourself off, reset the counter, and start over.

It's a difficult one, you didn't view any porn pictures and just the titles, you didn't orgasm- was the pre-cum as a result of just reading porn titles or were you touching yourself/edging? If you were touching yourself or masturbating without orgasm I would say yes it's a relapse and you should reset to draw a line under it.

Either way, this was dangerous, triggering behaviour and indulging it will more than likely lead to relapse.

I think it's not a reset. Didn't go through with it. If an alcoholic went into a bar but left and didn't drink realising the damage it would cause would you say they had relapsed?

It's not wise or helpful but it's a good sign that he resisted.

  7. I agree that it's not a reset but it's close. The reason is because you were clearly aroused in the process. Also your intentions play a big part. Ultimately it's up to you. If you feel guilty about it, consider just resetting and clearing your conscience.

As a side note, be particularly careful in the coming days as you may have released a fair amount of dopamine in your brain, thus increasing the cravings for a short while.
