Hello, so about 2 months ago I suddenly started getting chronic “brain fog” I have been feeling spaced out constantly.

I went and did some blood work at the doctors and everything was fine. I'm on day 14 of normal mode (because of my s/o) , but it feels like it will never lift. I can honestly say I’ve been fapping since about 13 years old till now (25) . Usually minimum once a day .

I'm trying to limit my tv/computer use, I've been reading a lot more, mediating, and working out monday - friday .

Can anyone give me any advice ?

  3. I am on day 33 and I have always had brain fog. I started doing PMO when I was 12 and have been masturbating since 6 (I am 21) so after quitting porn and masturbation things go WAY worse for the first three weeks and they are still a bit tough but around day 28 I noticed my mind being a bit clearer note that I only started meditating yesterday (10/23/17).

My advice for you is to ride it out the first four weeks and keep doing what you are doing (working out, meditation and avoiding screens) because those REALLY help. You must give it time to heal especially because you have been doing PMO for so long.

Well, i have the same brain fog it probably caused by withdrawal. Be motivated and you will conquer it. Try to be more focused and live every moment of your life.

Yeah, that’s what hope I’m really holding on to.I realize that I’ve been doing it for such a long time.. so the healing process will be quite lengthy .

Thanks for the advice :) I’m trying my best !

The thing is that I got it prior to stopping.. but I think it’s because I really abused my dopamine receptors by jerking off everyday .

  7. That's really interesting to me. I started porn when I was way too young, and for as far back as I can remember I've always had brain fog and concentration problems growing up and through school as well. Wonder if PMO has anything to do with a lot of what mysteriously started in childhood.

  8. Probably, I'm in the same boat mate. Just hold and and power through it, that's what I'm trying to do right now.

It's good you're meditating and taking steps to feel better, I'm sure with time it'll go away. :)

Thanks, I really wish this brain fog wasn’t the reason behind me trying to better myself. But it’s for the best, maybe it’s a sign to make the necessary changes in life.

I too also had a lot in trouble with concentration in highschool.. I wish I found out about this a lot sooner.

Best of luck to you too ! Stay strong :)

  10. I am viewing this as a great experiment to see if this brain fog that I have had since a young age will disappear. I can only imagine how life would be if I could think clearly and focus on the things I am doing.

What lifestyles do you folks have as a child? It may have had a role on the development of brain fog. For me, it consists of plenty of all-nighters, ridiculous on-screen time, and some drama here and there with my parents. I started having brain fog around the time when I PMO. After 7 months of nofap streak along with lifestyle overhauls, the brain fog is still with me.

Brain fog can mean 2 things: Withdrawal symptom from Porn, or a sign of another problem for example: bad diet, bad sleep, lots of stress.

Holy crap.. man that’s super discouraging. It literally feels like it’s never going to lift, it sucks. I wake up in the morning hoping I feel normal ..

I spent a lot of time gaming when I was younger . All of highschool and college. The past couple years I’ve slowed down immensely.

I eat fairly well, I think.. fruits for breakfast , rice with meat, lentils, veggies, sometimes
Potatoes .. dinner usually varies , but I try my best to eat as healthy as possible. I don’t have much stress in my life. I have a good job and girlfriend is great .

  15. I still game, like a lot! I know that's not causing my brain fog though, it started when I was a kid, like 7 or 8. Brain fog is a common coping mechanism symptom to do with stress, anxiety, depression and withdrawl symptoms, so in other words it's usually your mental state. Very rarely does it have to do with food or sleep, unless your sleep and habits are terrible every single night.

Chances are if you did PMO heavily when you were young, it should just be the stupid withdrawals bothering you. If you get blood work done and it comes back fine I wouldn't worry about it right now.

As hard as it may be, try not to think about the brain fog and ignore it. I know it may seem impossible but you don't want to keep reinforcing how bad it is all the time, otherwise it'll stick around longer and could turn into an anxiety disorder. I had that when I went through a bout of derealization and it stuck around for months, until I started ignoring that it was constantly like looking through a fish bowl.

    Stay strong, mate.

You can find friends to enjoy activities with. That usually helps as well.

Thanks for the words of advice! I’m trying to keep my mind occupied. I usually don’t focus on it much. Maybe talking about it right now isn’t really helping :p

Usually gaming takes my mind off it too! Super Mario odessey and stranger things comes out tomorrow. Then the week after that and I’m going on a cruise :)

Yeah, I usually workout with a buddy of mine. Helps a lot. Also most days I spend with my girlfriend or at work! Mind is normally occupied :)

  19. Contrary to belief, using gaming for coping with something can actually be a good thing. I've been gaming all my life and I guess you could say I've got a bit of an addiction, but besides the fun I have it was detrimental in my darkest days and tragedies. There were periods in my life I found I leaned more on games and tgatsojay, in the end I'm still here and they helped me through. Whatever helps you take your mind off I say go for it! As long as it's not drugs/alcohol. :D

Nice! Enjoy your cruise ride, those always sound like fun. Knowing, me all I'd do is grab a whole bunch of food and bring it back to my room and relax. :p
