No TV, video games, or social media, until my urges are under control during the reboot

A friend told me that those three things are linked to each other, when it comes to rebooting. So I’m gonna avoid them so I can be able to beat my last streak, which was 5 days, and fully recover from my masturbation addiction :)

Social media is garbage imo, I've been off it for years

Video games can be social if your friends play them too, same with tv/films (watch with my gf)

This is a good idea. Not just for nofap but just in general imo. Take a break and learn about yourself/ experience new things. Take that time to do something productive that interests you. Technology is not going anywhere reintroduce digital entertainment in moderation once you can control the urges.

TV and the ads are full of boring mainstream ideas, many triggers, and lots and lots of men being cast as idiots (once it's seen, it cannot be unseen)

    Social media is garbage agreed

Video games can be alright depending on the type of game, but you can easily spend hours on it when you should have done other tasks/jobs first

You didn't list music, but IMO listening to music will help, as long as it's songs you like and not the auto-tune crap on pop stations :)

    Just my 2c,

It is good that you are staying away from social media as it has a lot of triggers. Although social media can be a good thing, for me it has helped improve my confidence and meet attractive girls. But during nofap I would always temporarily delete my social media to focus on fixing my life. I hardly watch TV, instead I go to the gym and keep my body active. Also you should spend less time on your phone. All of this will get you more control in life. Good luck

I have done the same commitments for my reboot, and I know that a lot of people might think that it is overkill. However, as you have mentioned, they are often correlated. Most people will say they are correlated because sexual images can trigger you, and while I can understand their perspective, it is deeper than that for me personally.

I have been using porn, video games, and all sorts of other entertainment simply to numb out my senses and pass the time. All these things desensitizes you to the real world around you. You can always choose to connect to other people, to nature, and to yourself. There are so many things you can do to connect to the world around you. Meditation, gym, hiking, taking a walk, going shopping (Amazon does not count), volunteering, just to name a few. There are so many opportunities out there, and there are so many ways choose a higher path!

TV, Social media and gaming are all bad for you. They don't benefit you in no way instead taking valuable time away from you that you could have used on something more beneficial such as gym and learning something new. Time is valuable, precious and irreplaceable and soon we gonna come to ask ourself why we didn't spend our time wisely.

I actually might still play video games, but I will cut social media and tv out of my life temporarily

I sold my ps4, took too much of my time. I would try to do some work but always end up playing.

    Hi,

For me -- it was all about learning what my triggers are. I found FB & Insta to be full of Psub materials that would eventually send me to full on P. So, I cut those out. However, on twitter my timeline is pretty free of triggers and I'm sensitive to the ones that are there. For instance, if I see an attractive person has tweeted something I used to go to their profile page and check to see if they had selfies or anything like that. But -- no more -- I've told myself it's creepy to do this and not clicking through to their page gives me a chance to feel my trigger, to see it and say no & this is exercising my discipline.

I feel like I'll never be able to avoid all triggers so I need to practice maintaining my strength in small ways until I fully reboot.

Similarly, TV and social media and video games aren't helpful (to me) because they're designed to override our discipline. Binge watching, binge playing, binge scrolling on my facebook feed -- i think was part of the problem for me -- it gets so you can't focus on a single thing at a time. And for this, I feel like I really need to stay focused on my goals, on what's happening around me, what's happening to my body (good and bad) and ensuring that I do not relapse. So, for me -- films (they're long and they end -- I don't binge watch movies very often), exercise and reading have all helped me focus which I think has been helpful in maintaining and strengthening my discipline.

I'm sure it is different for everybody and everyone has different ways of looking at things. Maybe games are a way for you to focus or maybe they're a reward for a job well done ...
