It's Taken Forever To Find A Refuge, Wandering In A Desert Of Despair..
Now I've Happened Upon The Oasis At Last, Of Those Who Understand.
    I'm Home.

Poetic introductions aside, my name is Steve and I've struggled with a twofold addiction for the longest time: That of porn and excessive masturbation. Recognizing the unhealthiness of both, having dealt with the damage and consequences, I'm finally at a place of quiet yet determined acceptance of the fact that I have these problems and want to overcome them. I'm hoping to be an active member of this flourishing community...helping as I'm being helped, guiding as I'm being guided, contributing and doing my utmost.

I'm 29 years old and have faced these issues since I was an adolescent. In future posts I'll discuss the struggles in greater detail. Needless to say I'm very grateful to have joined NoFap. I'll be getting started on a challenge shortly and it's a pleasure beyond measure to meet you guys!

Welcome to NoFap where you are amongst friends who are here to encourage you and sometimes challenge you but not judge you.

The enemy is here to steal, kill and destroy. What are your current strategies for combating the enemy called PMO?

    Sir,

I thank you for your warm welcome. Your words are indicative of a wisdom and experience I'd do well to draw forth from like a well for the one who thirsts. Your eloquence decorates the obvious admirably.

In the past I've faced PMO with a multiplicity of unsuccessful strategies. My current campaign is focused on employing better self-control, availing myself of knowledge, and surrounding myself with support. The fact that my PMO habit has also cost me some dear friendships and led to the worst loss of hope since the death of my mother, my motivation now is as clear as it is strong...I will defeat this obsessive beast within me...and scrub out the filth so that the inner sanctum sparkles anew.

Thank you for your kind words.

The death of a loved one can easily be the catalyst for someone to seek escape or comfort from PMO, especially the death of a parent and even more so when it’s your mother.

We are here to walk with you as you begin your journey to sobriety. Check out In Case You Didn't Know for strategies and tips which may help you along this journey.
