Do you replace your porn addiction with other addictions or addictive behavior?

Yes indeed, like my father said yesterday (on a different matter), if you are aware of it, realize it, you are not really addicted. At least not to the point that others are if they don't realize it - they are the ones in real trouble. @Randler, believe it or not, I don't own a modern mobile device, my phone is an old school Nokia ^_^ So that's a bonus but I still use my PC a lot, most of the times since morning to late at night (I do work but not full-time job so I have plenty of spare time). I also have no gf and not many friends left in my hometown - although this is a lame excuse - I'm just very introverted in general, so I don't go out much.

I have gone to prolonged vacations on which I bring no technology whatsoever (except a speaker for playing music) so I actually know the feeling of going without this stuff. It's actually quite liberating and you can focus on yourself and the world more easily (which may be painful like you said, if you care too much or have other issues). Completely worth it, though.
Those vacations have always been deep in nature, in the city it's far more difficult for me to avoid technology. I guess we should try to realize how this affects us, how we can use our time/focus better and take it one step at a time just like NoFap.

Sometimes it takes losing our device or such vacations to keep us away from technology. Wow yesterday I almost relapsed but I was saved by some videos from YouTube on noFap. They were quite motivating.
I advice you guys to download them, get as many NoFap motivational videos that you can from YouTube and watch them before you watch porn anytime you want to relapse

Day21 NoFap. Feeling like a Boss. Actually called a beautiful girl at work to come see me in my office and she came. Turns out it's easy to talk to girls and look in their eyes. Unlike before I didn't really have the fear of rejection. Just plain chat. Even stayed myself from asking her out today. I am boss now.

A couple years ago while I was a member of the Reboot camp we learned about "Fulfilling Disciplines," those positive new actions/habits we should all strive for as we remove porn from our lives. There are many threads talking about people taking up reading, learning a language, exercise, etc. The point is for Dopamine/porn addicts, once you remove the behavior that led to the relapses, you will now have a void that needs to be filled. You can CHOOSE to fill it with other, potentially equally destructive habits, or you can fill them with actions that enrich your life.

@Randler, I am glad you did not relapse and so should you! There are many obstacles and traps along the way and we must be vigilant..

@Shai_Halud I hear you brother this is all true. However I believe we all have experienced that knowing and doing are not the same. Like Morpheus said in the movie Matrix: 'There's a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path.'

There are so many suggestions out there that one's head might spin. Everyone has to find his own way to cope but of course try not to replace negative habits with others. For me it boils down to simplicity, meaning keeping a moment-to-moment, day-to-day focus on what and why I am changing. When there are minor or no urges, I focus on my everyday life. When temptation strikes I tend to concentrate as much as I can to what PMO did to me and how I felt physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually etc. It's a motivation I'm sure I will not lose but of course as time goes by without PMO we tend to forget how awful the whole thing is. Still, this is where NoFap comes in and we can all remind each other of these things and also like Randler mentioned there are some great videos and other materials posted here. For me it helps a lot just to post day-to-day and share anything that I'm going through. So a huge thank you to everyone on NoFap and to you personally, for being here!

I want to weigh in on this, since it's related to my last relapse. Not all addictions are the same, some are worse that others. My personal belief is that PMO is the grand-daddy of all addictions. It's by far the worst. It's worse than cocaine or heroin, those drugs will leave your system. But because the brain never actually forgets anything (it can misplace stuff, sure) the pics and porn vids you've watched, they're gonna be in your system FOREVER.
I don't wanna freak anyone out, but it's true. Even if you replace PMO addiction with something like video game addiction, honestly, you're already better off. That's how bad PMO is. I said it was related to my last relapse, you can read more of my thoughts on that here: https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.p...last-thing-you-should-do.141744/#post-1144508
Now onto gaming addiction, whether it's bad or not, depends. Are you playing Overwatch for hours on end with your buddies? That's more good than bad. But if you're spending all day playing a game by yourself, and preferring it (this is key) to socialising, then that's bad. Especially if you're spending a lot of money on it.
But if it's a situation like you're bored and you're not in any mood to do anything even mildly productive, is gaming for a few hours bad? No. Better do that instead of leaving yourself free to think about PMO.
Remember: Idle hands are the devil's playthings.

I got blue balls too once early on in my reboot streak. I used cold water and ice and I recovered. Don't just blindly follow what a doctor says. Several of them still peddle outdated and sometimes completely wrong info. Some will actually suggest porn and masturbating. Stay away from them.

Yeah I am seriously preparing for nofap December. I am going to go nofap and no erection that exceeds 3minutes cus of the risk of blue balls which I am very prone too.

This days I feel like I am getting to attached to my phone and I can't spend one full hour without it. I need to work on this too.

Yeah I guess it works good, for a period there last year I trained a bit and felt good. However I never stopped my addictions in the meantime (or at least feeding them mentally). But you are still right - exercise is good in so many ways, it's practically a must (addict or not).

I was referring more to my weed addiction but I guess your advice will be the same anyway.

Thanks for the tip and stay focused!

@Randler : Hey what's up with you, man?

Multiple relapses. I am in my 10th day now trying to win back the days. Doing nofap makes it very difficult to avoid a temptation to have sex and that is why I keep relapsing.

I have been killing time with jogging and other work out. I am very much more confident this days and now I do not place much value in sex or sexual objectification.

It's going to be a rough week. Having urges already. Just closed the door to do it and decided to check here first. I think that's a good idea, always check nofap.com first before fapping so you could remind yourself of why you stopped.
