Leverage

Discussion in 'Self Improvement' started by Deleted Account, Dec 1, 2017.

  1. In the book "Awaken The Giant within", Tony Robbins writes that we tend to do things that makes us avoid pain and brings pleasure.

Also while explaining the Science of Neuroassociative Conditioning, he writes that if you associate enough pain to your habit, you will be able to quit it instantly.
And the only reason why you keep on relapsing is that you don't have enough leverage to guide you away from that habit I.e. There's still some secondary gain which you get when you relapse. The day you've associated enough pain to your ha it, you'll never look back!

    Here's the problem:
The secondary gain of pmo is really really good. How do I associate enough pain to this habit? How do I get enough leverage to get myself out of this?

I do not think i can answer your question. I just want to say that there is really no gain from pmo. Think about it. You will not grow mentally or physically from the continuous watching of porn. There is really no gain. Just a moment that quickly passes and just leaves you miserable and full of regret. It gives you anxiety, makes you socially awkward, takes away your manliness (stop for more than 30 days and you will know what i mean), it takes away your confidence and it leaves you empty. If these things do not all cause you pain i dont know what will.

I did the exact neuro-association exercise each day for a while, which helps, you write down the bad stuff about NoFap, create painfull emotions, how would life be if you never get rid of it etc...
And then what you gain from quitting, being free, creating as much pleasure as possible.

It does have it's effect, however, after 1 year, I've relapsed SO many times and each time I've felt bad.
Now I am tired of it so I actually stop thinking about masturbation porn etc.
