I don't understand why it is good for the survival of our species to be reserved about sex because without it our species would go extinct. In fact in Japan the birth rate is plummeting and it is having horrible effects for their economy. So less reproducing means better? Well if we want to go extinct than I guess he might be right

What about overpopulation? The rate the world is currently growing with regards to population is frightening. There are going to be major problems in the near future if we continue to reproduce at this rate.

In certain areas its bad. Overall its bad but there are areas that need more people that if rates continue will have a hard time in the future. But he said "survival of our species." Now lets look at that if people had less kids 1000 years ago when infant mortality was quite high we wouldn't have made it this far. So I'm debating survival of our species not so much right now.

But china has seen a decline in births as well and it will hurt their economy also. The effects are already showing but its minor and can be brushed of but twenty years from now it could be bad and I think they are worried. Yes India and parts of Africa could stand to have less births but you have to restructure it form the inside or at least supply birth control as some are so poor they can't afford it.

Quite interesting. I don't personally think that a decline in births in China is going to have such a profound effect. China is already extremely overpopulated, with the vast majority of civilians living in poverty. Why do you think China has the one-child policy?

That was in the past its starting. They used to have a huge population boom. But as their economy improves less people will have kids problem is their economy needs to have a certain number of people. Its bad that a majority is living in poverty but they need their birth rates to be at a certain number and right now its below what they need it to be. But like I said the effects won't be super visible for another twenty year. But there are signs that its taking its toll. Its that there are less births than they need so its a in the future problem right now its not with their 1.7 billion population but people age and die and eventually if the birthing rate doesn't hit a point they need it can be bad.

The reason why sexual restraint allows a civilization to survive has primarily nothing to do with demographics. Sexual restraint is crucial for establishing stable, loyal families that constitute basis for mental and physical ddvelopment. Socialism has proven to fail everywhere it attempted, and it is gradually killing the Western world already - through debt, through decadent culture, through depopulation, through economic stagnation. Family has the supportive function for individuals that the socialists naively think can be succesfully provided by the state.

The Malthusian theory of population has been proven to not apply. Only narrow minds might fear such nonsense as overpopulation of the planet. Natal trends in a free market are self-regulatory. China imposed the one child policy simply because it feared losing control over population. Control is the totalitarian scums' obsession.

Populations exploded in the west not so very long ago, as advancements in sanitation and medicine preceded the embrace of birth control by at least two generations. Birth rates only plummeted when the "cost of living" came to include provisions for a college education and a comfortable 25-year retirement. Enfranchise the poorer nations and they'll join our voluntary extinction movement with alacrity. Unfortunately, once they're in, there'll be nobody left to harvest fruit or change the bedpans in the hospital.

r/K are not immutable properties. They're reproductive strategies that can be switched on/off by environmental cues in many species, especially ours.

You know, the whole "humans are animals" argument has lead to some of the biggest genocides in history. Social Darwinism is bullshit, man. To say that humans are merely animals eliminates 99% of our potential and our value.

Then we can say "humans are a specie that has much in common with other species living on this planet". No big difference. And if you're thinking about communism-driven genocides, because these were certainly the biggest in history, then you must know the initiators of these were relating to the "noble ideals" of humanism and equality, not social darwinism.

I do agree, however, that assuming you're merely an animal that can not and should not have higher ambitions than a monkey (i.e. fucking, eating and shitting) is obviously disturbing.

Well that's exactly what I'm saying. The places on earth with the highest populations are multiplying faster than any other nations, and are very overpopulated.

But I can't say I agree with you when you say the west is dying out. Where I am currently living, the population is growing and will continue to do so for many years.

Its usually poorer nations because they see it as their kids can take care of them when they are older. Its usually places where the infant mortality is quite high. The big families of America have kind of died out as cost of living went up and the family on a farm died out. Its quite rare to hear of a family bigger than 3 when it used to be more like seven. So when I say the birth rates in china are down I mean that for their economy its not good and its because the average income is going up and people see less reason to have them.

Its interesting because this religious figure told people in Africa not to use birth control because its was worse than having an STD but its very cheap and I believe if we gave it to the poorer countries than we could help to slow it down so long as religious people don't tell them you will go to hell. Actually there was an African country where they almost got rid of a disease or rather controlled it but a religious person said the vaccine was evil so it got out of hand.
