Special Gift for 100 Days Goal

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jan 10, 2018.

  1. I think I want to set up something special for when I hit 100. It can't be anything too pricey, as I'm really working hard on saving money right now. But it also can't be something too normal, that I could just do whenever and wouldn't be motivating enough.

Any ideas? Has anyone else done this? It seems fun, having something extra to look forward to, aside from just being 100 days clean. :) I'll probably set up an even bigger one for the 1 year mark, too.

What's your budget and what do you like? If you save a $1 a day that's $100.

  3. Nice idea :)

Is there something you really really wanna have, but never bought because .... (for some reason)?

    Or:

Is there something you really really wanna do, but never did....

    Or:

Is there something you should really really give to somebody else, but you never could ....

Good idea, I prize myself every 5 days with a food I really want in that moment, buy something you really want, like Roady said :)

  5. It's tough, because I'm really excited for my financial goals that I'm trying to work hard on. So I'm trying to think if there is something special I can reward myself with, without resorting to just buying stuff or spending a bunch of money. But I suppose, if I keep it at a reasonable price, buying myself a small gift for 100 days isn't too crazy, and it might feel extra special now that I'm living on a more strict budget.

There is one big thing I definitely have always wanted to do, that may be a good option for a year goal. There's a YouTube channel stationed in LA that sometimes does live events, and I've always wanted to meet them. A trip to LA wouldn't be too insane, cost wise, since I'm in NorCal. So perhaps I can consider that, if they have another event around that time. Problem is, they usually only give like two weeks notice before a live event, so that's a bit more spontaneous than I am used to being.

  6. I'm thinking maybe a Starbucks card. Lol sounds silly, but I like to have a drink sometimes when I'm out writing, and I always feel a bit guilty when I spend money on that, because they're so overpriced. So that would give me a little bit of guilt-free treats for a while.

I think it's a good idea to reward yourself with a little something if you can spare it. Since we're basically here to fix our screwed up motivation/reward systems, part of that is learning how to reward ourselves again.

I don't know about you, but I've always had a tendency towards ignoring my own accomplishments. Part of that is I've always been a mix of frugal and low key, but thinking on it now, I can't help but wonder if it was because I was being flooded with the "wrong kind of reward" and so I never really felt that proud of my own accomplishments.

Regardless, I salute the endeavor. Something like a starbucks card sounds like the right amount of cozy for a goal like that

  8. I've never been good at rewarding myself either. And I'm also very naturally frugal, as well. But yes, I think a Starbucks card is a good little gift without going overboard and spending too much. And it will be a blessing a few times, not just once, so that adds another layer of benefit.

  9. Scratch that! I think I'm gonna get myself a steamer. I've always wanted one, for cleaning. They range greatly in price, so I'll have to look at reviews and see which ones are best for a good price. But I'm excited about that.

  10. Maybe get yourself something that incorporates your passion for writing. If you have a bunch of short stories saved on your computer then maybe see what it would cost to have them published just for yourself and put into a nice hardcover leather bound book. Then it becomes something that continues to bring you inspiration and joy for years to come.

  11. No and not planning on it but it probably isn't a bad idea. I have seen it recommended before but by reading Zhuang Zhou I understand rewards and punishments to be the lowest form of education.

  12. That's not true. You reward yourself with a new username every month.

  17. Btw Cass I reward myself daily so I shouldn't tell you not to.

  18. Alrighty boys, take the pissing context elsewhere, please.

To get back on topic, I think I'm pretty settled on getting a steam cleaner. But I would love to hear anyone else's ideas, if they want to set up a reward for themsleves.

The only problem is, with the steamer, I'm kind of considering getting one of those sooner rather than later... like right now. Because we have some kind of pest control issue right now, maybe bed bugs or mites or something, and one way to eliminate that is with steam cleaning. But I will see what the exterminator can come up with when they get here tomorrow. Hopefully they can fix the problem.
