    hi guys!!!

I just signed up because I realized that I really need this reboot. Masturbation and porn have been affecting my performance and mood from all aspects. Yet, I’m not sure how and where it’s start so any help could be useful and appreciated :)

  2. Hey welcome! You've come to the right place!

I would suggest you browse around the site and read the things people post. You will start to see people with similar stories to yours and get some ideas of what is working for them. It's also helpful to start posting encouragement to other people's posts. It gets you to stop focusing only on your own situation. Thinking outside yourself to others is healthy.

In my case, a key breakthrough was to understand why I turn to porn -- in my case it is because of anxiety. Then I had to ask where the anxiety is coming from and realize it is coming from some unresolved childhood issues. So that led to two things -- thinking through some of those childhood situations and providing comfort to my child-self, and secondly, finding healthier ways to deal with anxiety. My anxiety has been greatly improved by using CBD oil, a non-addictive hemp-based product, and by listening to hypnosis audios for relaxation.

Another key breakthrough has been to focus more attention on adding positive new things to my life, not just removing negative things from my life. So I've tried to improve my relationships, taken more time to do things I enjoy like reading, and am now trying to learn a foreign language. I'm also re-examining my religious faith to discover how to live that out more authentically, not just according to traditions that have been given to me by authority figures.

I hope something here is of use to you. You'll have to find your own path, but you discover lots of useful ideas from thousands of men and women on the NoFap site.

  3. Hi
Glad you are here. And very welcome to join us in our journey to a healthy, fulfilling life without any self harming habits.

It's a safe place here. We all are in the same boat, so there is no single space for judgement here.
Maybe it's a good idea to keep a journal. Sharing your struggles, thoughts and feelings may help you to understand the underlying issues, like @Courageous is mentioning.

Keep coming back and get the most effort out of nofap!
You don't need to do it alone!

    Let's go to work!

  4. Welcome to NoFap @Makalipres
It is a big step if you can understand what is triggering your urges, because this will allow you to be awake and kill those urges as soon as they appear.

I recommend you to create your own "Emergency Toolbox" with readings that can be handy to read when you start feeling urges to screw up.
I can share this post with you with my own Emergency Toolbox, it helped me a lot during the first few months, i had them in my cell and read them every time I started falling down:

I wrote some tips in this post that perhaps will help you too:

You can watch some interesting videos which are also very helpful in this post:

I also suggest you to read "Breaking the Cycle" by George Collins, it is a must-read if you are serious about getting rid of this addiction.
To get more focus and feel happier with life I recommend you to start doing meditation.. I have been using an App called Headspace for the last two months which is great if you have never meditated before. The first 10 sessions are free if you want to give a try. I used to feel a bit depressed or feeling without energy to start new projects in my life, and meditation has helped me a lot with this.

Last but not least, I would strongly recommend you to take the NoFap Academy course if you can afford it. The course is great but the best value are the weekly video calls with @alexander (the creator of NoFap and NoFap Academy) and Mark Queppet, where you can chat with them in real life and listen to other guys's stories and problems too.

I hope that all this helps you to fight this shitty addiction.
    Let's keep on fighting

Welcome! You don't need to know how to start, you just need to start! Porn will definitely affect your mood and motivation, I definitely didn't like the person I was becoming when I was addicted to porn. Read the journals here and get as much information as you can about the addiction. This will help you in your trying times, and try not to think about "quitting" more so than living your life in ways that make you happy that don't involve pixelated women. Stay strong, every day is day one!

  7. Hey @Makalipres ,

I'm just a normal ordinary member. No moderator super powers and no special insite. I share my ESH (Experience, Strength and Hope) of what works for me.

Just another warm welcome and a heart felt hello. This community has helped me so much.

What worked for me was "working" it. It took hard work for me to complete a hard reboot (No pmo) for 120 days, then move into a Sex Positive mode.

First, reading the literature published by NoFap itself along with reading journals.

Then, doing the work. Writing in my journal and replying to introductions and other's journals.

Finally, but not least, getting involved with the fellowship. I found it on the forums, but also in people's profiles. The forums tend to be longer posts, where the profiles tend to be more "conversational".

That is what has worked for me. I like to remind myself that this community was here waiting for me with the lights on when I arrived. Now, I have to do my best to be there when someone comes to the community.

    PS:

One of the ways I got involved with the fellowship was by reading some really great journals. Reading other's stories with their victories and even defeats is a big part of my program.

I've included journals from all age groups, spiritual members, religious members, secular members, male and female. You should find journals that help. If not, look around, there are hundreds of others from which to choose. When I say "it works if you work it", reading journals is part of that work.

Once you open a journal, click "Watch Thread" in the upper right of the page to get alerts when new posts are made. Here are just a few:
