I am suprised that anyone even care to mention k9 when it can be removed couple of clicks so its basicly same than no blocker. Rather use Opendns.

 

If smoke is the problem, think twice to decide whether you need a big costly exhaust system to eliminate the smoke and keep the fire, or whether should you have to find the courage to just pour some water over the fire so that there won't be any smoke?

I chose the latter. Permanently delete fb account. Without smoke there aint no smoke coming... plus it ll deny yourself the short time meaningless pleasure... I recommend instead of wasting time away in twitter or any other social media , focus on motivational videos in youtube.. thats what i do... theres this guy named " seth alexander "... his videos really really inspires and defines a lot of things... he has given me a lot of hope and power...

 

Its called addiction for reason so propably your method wont work or he would not be here. If twitter is problem and there is free tool to block it with couple of clicks so good that he cannot bybass the block why would he not use it?

Forums are social media too. Most of motional videos or speaks are for two diffrent reason. Get money from ads or sell a book. Book and those videos get you nowhere. Only thing they can do is give you ideas, tips and tools how to do it yourself. In my books those videos are same waste of time as other videos there. Books or videos does not change your life. You do.

 

I feel you man, if you have an iPhone you can restrict twitter as a whole website. Whenever you do type Twitter a blank page will pop up followed by a “restricted website” of course nothing is 100% blocked because it gives you the option to put your code to UNBLOCK it. So that’s basically when it’s up to you...

 

How not to relapse again?
My approach now is to use multiple blocking tools (K9, Kaspersky, tinywebfilter), so that it would be a mess to unblock/uninstall everything again or for the case (my relapse yesterday) that one tool doesn´t filter everything as it should. Additionally I made entries in my hosts-file, so that the most dangerous websites cannot be accessed.

The passwords are very long and random, so that in a weak moment I gain time to cool down.
To change hosts I need admin-password and change antivirus settings, more time.
Passwords are written in a book so that I can access them for the case I really need to adjust the filters for something important.

The most difficult to avoid is still: There are memories of porn and fantasies, they fade away only slowly.

Isn't it crazy how we set up walls to block us from temptations? but then we try to "make sure" it worked by looking up porn itself.
