So I know this is probably a stupid question to some of you, but I seem to get different answers everywhere I look. Heck, some sites argue that PMO is healthy, but I know that's not right.

I'm a 28 year old male who has been PMOing since age ~12 (PMOing for 16 years). I've had brain fog, depression, anxiety, etc for pretty much ever since I can remember. It may also be worth noting that I had a father that was more emotionally neglective than abusive, but at least some of both in there. I'm trying to sort out the root cause of my various personality defects. Could PMO be a substantial suspect or a major contributing factor?

  2. I wouldn't say it's fully substantial or major. Depression and anxiety can stem from things other than PMO, but I would say that indulging it in PMO causes underlying problems to worsen.

To answer your question in the title, I would argue yes. It is. Speaking anecdotally, I never experienced brain fog until I started attempting to give up PMO. It seems to be a withdrawal-symptom.

Brain fog is surely caused by chronic fapping. I know because I used to have it before getting a few long streaks under my belt. I would fap every morning, and sometimes multiple times a day. I thought I just had severe depression until I read about brain fog and what happens when you exceed your body's sexual reward system.

    Hi,

Can you point me to where you read about brain fog? Thank you.

  5. There is a definite correlation between pmo and brain fog. I’ve been in a foggy state for years whilst fapping and a relapse puts me back at square one with it.

Thanks for all the input! I know it depends on the person and all, but generally speaking, what sort of time frame might I be looking at after quitting PMO until the fog lifts?

  7. To be honest, for me, it would go away during a streak. I would say a month of no PMO would not only clear it up, triggers will also not bring it back.
