Im 18 and i just bought a bought a phone that doesnt even know what wyfy is! Ive relapsed so many times that i finally decided to get rid of the device that gives me constant access to my addiction. I thought hey why not give it a shot and see if it helps. I probably have just as much of a problem with wasting time on YouTube as do with PM anyway. So hopefully this helps my habits change for the better. Has anyone done anything similar and if so how did it go? Peace out friends

It is a good temporary solution while you are starting your reboot... But eventually you will find yourself in a situation where you'll have unfiltered access to the internet. It's inevitable. You want to be in a place mentally where being alone with that access isn't an issue.

It's a great start! Definitely set up filters and blocks, just don't depend on them.

Good work lad- I still have my phone and all my social media. I don't find that it triggers me so I keep it. Anyone else doing the same? I don't think internet is necessarily bad unless used inappropriately

I actually do not have a phone and on my laptop I've made it extremely difficult to look at porn. I IP blocked all the P websites I know, I even googled a bunch of p websites that I didn't even know and blocked those too & I downloaded a P blocker called anti-p Pro just in case I missed anything. I'm determined. But what you said was true @Blade-rnr It made me feel like Damn...I should be able to have a browser open of it and it not even affect me...but I have no other options. I've relapsed like 100 times and If i wouldn't of taken these precautionary measures. I searched up p just two nights ago but I actually couldn't get any so....Babysteps I guess!

  7. Technology these days is prepared good for porn so i just use blockers so i cant access porn anyway or delete the blocks. No need to change phone and can still play, use wa, good camera etc. This is my longest nofap streak, because havent had any access to porn at any point. I dont know does ot show my signature but day 22 it is.

  8. so i did a few things to fix my smartphone, i installed a new web browser called Safe browser, i also installed an add on it, to block some websites i have used that it might not pick up on.
i then added a dns blocker on the phone
set the network providers settings on to block adult content
and finally, i installed an app blocker, to prevent me changing any of this set up....

    its cumbersome, but it works

These are all great steps, and it's a great start! From my experience, and this may just be me, it's difficult to keep it up over time. Take advantage of the time you have away from porn to rewire your brain to follow NEW neural pathways. That means, when you encounter stress, hunger, anxiety, etc... instead having an urge to look at porn you'll feel motivated to participate in a more emotionally fulfilling activity. This is what eventually turns into long-term sobriety because you've now rewired your brain to do something else besides looking at porn during stress.

There are techniques for developing these new pathways that work very well. One that my therapist taught me is a technique in which you basically list a bunch of emotionally, spiritually, or physically fulfilling activities (5 activities for each category). When you feel yourself heading towards a relapse, you pause and pick one of these activities to do. If the temptation is still there... pick another activity from a different category. Repeat until the temptation is gone. The key to making this work as actually practicing outside of being in a relapse scenario... it's extra work but back when I tried this it was VERY effective at removing my triggers in a very short period of time. It kicked off about 6 months of sobriety for me, after which I became complacent and fell back into addiction :-(.

I think I will do some research and write a more detailed post about this... or at least get the source from my therapist where this technique comes from.
