The Future of NoFap

Discussion in 'Off-topic Discussion' started by Deleted Account, Feb 25, 2018.

  1. This is a topic that I have been thinking about lately. Our community is one of a kind; its rare to see people on the internet being so kind to one another (for the most part). But, if you think about it, there aren't many people here.

I believe this site has been open since 2015, and has about 100k members. That's a pretty good rate. But when compared to the whole world population, its very insignificant. That means that a vast majority of people have no clue of the harm that befalls upon them by watching porn.

Do you guys see this movement growing more rapidly as we move into the 2020's? Or do you see advances in technology (like VR) slowing down NoFap? Personally, I think that its gonna get worse for a while, and then once more people realize the harm, improvement will occur.

  2. i think its still an underground issue, people even in psychology and therapy still dont appreciate porn and sex as addictions, they think drink, drugs and gambling

so the awakening moment has still to happen, and i think that is a while away

I am surprised too that there aren't more members, but a lot of people view the site and threads without signing up... not sure why that is.

People also simply may not know about it... I only came to it because of a BBC news article.

So it's important we spread the word!

  4. A lot of people also refuse to see anything bad about porn, because honestly the brain of a junkie that addicted will do anything it can to get its fix.

Have you ever seen or 'tried' VR porn? I did twice before and maybe it's different for other people but it fucked me up worse than regular porn, even though the resolution/quality of the videos aren't great it sticks with me worse because my brain is confused and tells me what I saw was real.

Things like VR porn I think will only make people's symptoms and recovery way worse and longer than say even regular porn, maybe we'll see more people in here because if it? There's going to be a point where people won't be able to take the dopamine overdose anymore and snap emotionally, I hope for the best and I guess we'll have to wait and see for now.

  5. Nah I havent had the chance to try it. At a time I wanted to, but in my more knowledgeable state, I no longer want to. Like you said, in the end well just have to wait and see how things flow. I just hope Virtual Reality doesn't screenshot up the world too much then.

  6. I have no idea what the consequences of VR porn will do to those people, I can only hope for the best but I assume that it will rewire the brain in a worse way that we've seen before. I'm glad you didn't and have no interest mate, like I said I only saw it twice and my brain still goes back to it in my head even though that was a long time ago.

As with anything though, VR was meant for entertainment like movies, games, hospital settings, etc, but people always try to purposely pervert everything with porn whenever they can.

I didn't read anything on bbc. I was watching some videos about nofap on youtube and then i was seaching on bing about sex toys and nofap and this forum was in the top. So, after that i signed up here.
As for porn, may people don't see it as a problem. They think, it's ok if you use it in moderation. So, i think that many people not interested in nofap at all. I never was really addicted to porn. My much bigger problems is sex toys and hookers. Thankfully, i abstain from hookers more than 4 months (soon it will be 5 months) and with sex toys it much harder but from the end of 2017 i had 2 streaks about a month long, so i'm making progress. Because of that i never tried VR porn and don't want too but i watched on youtube how people play in horror vr games and i have first impression how such porn will affect a person's brain. Of course, better stay away from it.

I think this is going to gradually build like quitting smoking has built up over the years. I also think governments are going to put more restrictions on porn as it gets worse.

Yeah, seriously!! I watched only one P on VR and that too for a very short duration of time, but it made relapsed 6 times in an entire month. It was literally hard for me to understand what I saw was not real and VR's just gonna change the entire picture of how we see this world.

  10. I like VR for what it was supposed to do before, it's a weird and cool feeling being put inside a game like that. But for porn... That messed me up pretty bad, because being able to look around and semi move like that is all too real and confuses the brain in a lot of ways.

  11. I was thinking that I was amazed at how many people are on here...look at the newcomer's forum and every day there are many, many men and women joining up. It makes me sad to see how many are struggling and desperate as they tell their stories of remorse and powerlessness. Also, it makes me sad to think of how many more there are out there who aren't taking steps to over come this addiction and are out there foundering.

I guess in overall terms, NoFap is really is only a small percentage of people when compared to the overall rate of porn consumption.

I can't even begin to imagine VR porn...wow! I hope I never get the chance to try it. I know how the regular affects us. VR must be dopamine on steroids!!!

You know what I was introduced to VR for the first time just for the purpose of gaming but those perverts, they instead made me watch that P and I couldn't hold my emotions for much long since I'm also human (rather male) and I ended up relapsing every consecutive weekend.

  14. True, but I take into considertion those without an account who still fight PMO. Either way, the figure is marginal.

  15. I wonder what restrictions they can put on it? Since its online and not a physical product. I guess they'll tax porn companies or something.

  16. Yeah there's a ton of guests that post, not to mention people probably view the forums without an account for various reasons as well.
