When I've explained to guys about PIED, I've consistently gotten an immediate, knee jerk reaction from them: "What's wrong with Porn? I love porn! I use porn and look at me, it hasn't hurt me in any way! Are you SURE porn is your problem?"

At first I figured it was just a natural reaction to something they enjoyed...but the consistency across several different guys, just makes me think it's a defense mechanism. Especially because at no point did I ever say "all porn is a problem," all I ever said was "I have Porn Induced Erectile dysfunction, so I'm trying to quit porn."

I drink alcohol every now and then, and thoroughly enjoy it. But if someone came to me and said "I have an alcohol addiction" or "I have a video game addiction and I'm trying to quit." My first reaction is to be supportive.

I've also known a few other guys who have come to me in confidence, worried about erection problems. When I've told them that it could be porn, and they laid off of it, they stopped having issues.

Maybe it's not an issue for everyone, but I definitely think there is something to it.

I've struggled my entire life once I became addicted to porn and the whole time I had no idea the reason I felt weak, fog headed, and impotent with girls was due to it. If you told me that 2 weeks ago I would have probably had the same response. "I love porn, porn is great!" Etc, but now I know about it and it disgusts me. There are some people out there that actively resist thinking porn is bad at all, or that it's not a serious addiction. I would suggest they study up on the subject but if they don't there's not much you can do.
