I was thinking of the sexual revolution of the 1960's and how it gave us things like birth control, free love, abortion, and later on, the first mainstream porn film, deep throat. And millions of guys have been enslaved ever since. I'm 43 years old and I have bipolar disorder and have been forced, because I am no longer able to work a full time job without getting fired due to missing days off because of depression, to be a stay at home dad. While I enjoy being a stay at home dad because I have a great deal of influence over my children and can teach them positive values, it sometimes feels like a curse because I spend so much time alone and isolated when the wife and kids are gone. I just recently started keeping a daily journal and have learned that I have masturbated to porn about 51 times since August 28th, and thousands of times before that that I didn't keep track of.I know we live in a free society and everything but this sexual revolution that happened 40 and 45 years ago has ruined a lot of lives.slowly but surely, I'm taking my power back and eventually I hope to be able to work again and support my family like normal men do. does any one else feel that way?

You make some good points. I was thinking primarily of "Deep Throat" and how it came out in the early 70s. I agree with your points, but maintain the sexual revolution made it possible for the first mainstream porn film to be widely accepted and do big box office, whereas before that time it would've been frowned upon.

I find it hard to argue with your points. Lol.. there's a movie on Netflix about the making of that film called "Lovelace" but I'm afraid to watch it as it is probably a potential trigger. I've already seen one scene from it and it features the title character giving head to some guy. That was enough for me to turn it off.

Lovelace is an anti porn film, it shows the mentality of the people behind the sceanes and the total disregard of everything except money. it's a good flic in my books but there are some sceanes in it that would be considered triggers. Whatch it with your wife. We needed the sexual revaluation to break us out severly damaging ideas about sex and even now with all the porn on the internet men are starting to learn that desire for sex can't be fullfilled and if you overload on it you can do damage. I don't think this sort of education about male sexuality would have been possible with out the porn explosion on the net.

you do know a lot. Even though the overwhelming prevalence of pornography in a sense has severely affected my life. I realize now that that just places more of a burden on me to live a life of discipline and self control. So yesterday I spent a lot of time in the house alone and I didn't want to fap for the first time in a long time on the weekend. And last night my wife and I watched A non pornographic video on YouTube bye a male empowerment coach named Grace Diaz. She is very attractive and normally it would have been a trigger for me, but I used the enormous hard-on I was getting to enjoy intimacy with my wife rather than looking for a stranger on the Internet by looking at something hardcore. Grace Diaz talks about semen retention and the benefits of not ejaculating our seed everywhere. That's not where the power is. I'm still new on this journey. But my mood is already improving. My wife is starting to notice the difference. I thank all of you guys who have responded to my posts for these small victories.

I'm pretty sure that porn has held roughly the same place in society for ages and ages, and that with each new technology developed (print, silent films, movies, internet) it became one of the first uses of the new medium. The internet is indeed a game changer in our lives, but let's not pretend that the sex industry was invented a mere 50 years ago!

In all honesty your sexuality is whatever the hell you want it to be. If you would like to indulge in porn fine. However, it must be realized that you may develop issues in other areas of your life. Porn is without question compelling. It's a super stimuli and should be treated as such. An apt comparison may be hardcore recreational drugs. Sure there's a hell of a high. But long term use leads to issues within the brain. Porn has been around for a very long time in various forms. Just like drugs have been around in various forms for a very long time. It seems to me that getting the balance right is all about discipline and self awareness.

Ultimately, there's nothing wrong with the system. Instead its your own personal issues. It may sound harsh but it's the truth. A crusade against porn will achieve little. The real battle is within.
