Is it possible to fully recover from the sick stuff?

I have been following NoFap for few years and have failed many times (my longest streak was around 28 days).

You know how when you are young you search for vanilla porn and then during the course of years you "upgrade" yourself to more twisted stuff?

Well I took it on a whole new level until not even the most depraved sick porn could satisfy my needs so I moved to the real stuff. I am talking ISIS videos, mexican cartel violence, underground hurtcore on demand and so on.

Once I have seen it all and reached the most depraving shit one could hope for I realized there would be no more upgrades to my fetishes.

Being addicted for ~12 years (around 5 years of the really sick stuff) I developed many other problems, ended up on psychotherapy and meds which I later stopped taking and declined any further help.

Is there anyone out here with a similar problem as mine? I could really use some insight.

Well, to be frank, there was a point where I was mostly searching out forced p. I'm a gentle person in real life, and I would NEVER consider doing that to a woman, but there reaches a point in the dopamine exhaust cycle we crave something new and unexpected and that is usually as intense as it gets. It's not really what we want out of a relationship, it's a condition of lies from the addiction. So yes, those will fade and your real desires and fetishes will level out naturally in time.

  3. I only look at Penthouse and Playboy once a week maybe. Thinking of cutting that out as a childish habit.

  4. I do have a heavy predilection to BDSM, but cut that out when it got out of hand (PMO 3 times a week.)

Your question is do we fully recover. I believe anyone can quit porn and live a happy life regardless of the fetishes you had (unless its illegal). But i compare PMO addiction to a former alcoholic. If they even get a sniff of alcohol or whatevrr it is they liked, their mind and body starts goong crazy begging for alcohol. However, like all addictions, we learn to control them. It is possible to reset our brains to be attracted to normal real women. Hundreds of men have done it, we can all do it, even though it seems unrealistic. And with time, we learn to control ourselves to not think of porn.

Unforunately, those inages are burned into our brains. Its something that basically became a part of us and now we have to not access it. There is the challenge. Just remenber wuitting pmo is a long term goal. Regardless how long your streak is, its something you will basically live with. Ive accepted that and now know everyday will be a challenge, whoch is why people say take it one day at a time.

Like you said, porn use escalates and the vanilla crap no longer is good enough for our brains so we get deeper and deeper and become addicted to something unimaginable. Its just how screwed up our brain is.

I highly highly suggest the book Break the cycle by george collins, it will help you control and manage your life
